OVERVIEW

The Equity Settlement Associate is essential in supporting North American equity trading operations by managing trade settlements, custody positions, and prime brokerage activities across various markets. This role ensures accurate and timely transaction processing, contributing to a growing business with increasing volumes and reporting requirements. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in securities settlement or capital markets operations, demonstrating attention to detail and compliance awareness. They will be adept at resolving complex issues efficiently while managing stakeholder relationships and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Location: New Jersey (Hybrid)

Contract Length: 12 months, with the possibility of extension or conversion to FTE

Hours: 8am-5pm, with overtime requirements

Pay: W2 $40-45

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute and monitor global securities settlements to ensure timely processing.
  • Resolve breaks, confirmations, and discrepancies promptly to maintain operational integrity.
  • Manage cash movements and ensure accurate postings in the bank’s books and records.
  • Provide guidance on corporate actions and entitlements to support operational processes.
  • Act as backup for team members and management, ensuring continuity of operations.
  • Assist in workflow coordination, quality control, and training initiatives to enhance team performance.
  • Maintain adherence to regulatory requirements, including SEC, FINRA, and REG 204 Buy-In.
  • Identify and escalate risk breakdowns in processes to mitigate operational risks.
  • Support business continuity planning and testing to ensure operational resilience.
  • Participate in process enhancements and system upgrades to improve efficiency.
  • Analyze data for insights and recommend improvements to operational processes.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred.
  • 5-10 years of experience in securities settlement or capital markets operations.
  • Proficiency in relevant systems and tools used in trade settlement and operations.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and risk management principles.
  • Experience with Broadridge platforms such as BPS, GFW, and PostEdge.
  • Familiarity with BONY systems and Treasury Edge.
  • Knowledge of clearing and settlement portals including DTCC, NSCC, CDS, and DTC/OCC/Arrow.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to manage complex issues independently.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Knowledge of risk management and operational controls.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Broadridge platforms: BPS, GFW, PostEdge
  • BONY systems and Treasury Edge
  • Clearing and settlement portals: DTCC, NSCC, CDS, DTC/OCC/Arrow
  • Tools: GEMS, IMatch, Global Framework
  • Familiarity with BNY BDC for FED eligible securities

PREFERRED

  • Experience in domestic and international capital markets operations.
  • Knowledge of regulatory reporting and compliance standards.
  • Understanding of margin calculations under Federal Reserve Regulation T.
  • Experience handling restricted shares (Rule 144) and DTC Global Lock securities.
  • Familiarity with treasury management and collateral sourcing for margin.
