Fire Installation Manager

Johnson Controls delivers fire protection and life safety solutions that help customers protect people, property, and operations. In this role, you will lead a high-performing installation team and help ensure each project is delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Role Overview

The Fire Install Manager leads the Electronic Fire Alarm delivery process, with responsibility for customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, cost management, and financial results. This position oversees fire alarm technicians, installers, and technical installation support teams while coordinating the full installation lifecycle from order intake through warranty support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Electronic Fire Alarm delivery process from initial order through warranty support.
  • Partner with sales to review customer requirements, contractual obligations, and the best application for each project.
  • Maintain strong customer communication and deliver solutions that support total customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee submittals, engineering support, technical support, installation schematics, equipment delivery, outside purchasing, scheduling, labor planning, and approvals.
  • Manage installation requirements, including material purchasing, project scheduling, programming, and operating systems to customer specifications and applicable code requirements.
  • Lead fire alarm technicians, installers, and technical installation support teams with a focus on productivity, development, and accountability.
  • Support seamless project turnover by working closely with the service department and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure safety compliance, investigate workplace accidents as required, and escalate hazards that need corrective action.
  • Follow applicable federal, provincial, and local laws, along with company policies and procedures.

How You Will Do It

  • Build trust with customers through clear, two-way communication from the initial order point through the warranty period.
  • Balance service quality with financial discipline by managing direct costs, indirect costs, accounts receivable, and profitability within the approved financial plan.
  • Stay close to the work by removing obstacles in submittals, engineering, purchasing, scheduling, and field support so the team can deliver on time.
  • Drive continuous improvement by setting clear performance measures, coaching the team, and using practical problem-solving to improve productivity.
  • Win as one team by collaborating with sales, service, and installation staff to create a seamless customer experience and smooth project turnover.
  • Lead with safety and integrity by ensuring safety training stays current, responding quickly to hazards, and supporting thorough investigations when required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 8+ years of experience in field operations management and fire industry experience, preferably in Fire Alarm operations.
  • Proven management and leadership ability, including branch administration, coaching, mentoring, and training and development.
  • Ability to read and comprehend financial statements.
  • Strong interpersonal, written communication, and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable local, provincial, and federal codes.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Project.

Nice to Have

  • Certification or diploma in a related field such as CFFA, Fire & Life Safety, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Fire alarm operations leadership experience.
  • Experience reviewing the terms of construction contracts.
  • NICET Level 3 Fire Alarm Systems.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $101,000 - $150,350 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
