Position Summary:
Based at the Ringaskiddy site and reporting to the Site Automation Lead within the Global Engineering & Technology (GET) group, this role will be responsible for the site's Automation systems, encompassing OT Infrastructure, Building Automation, and Process Automation (PLC & DeltaV), while driving excellence in system lifecycle management, automation architecture, and asset management. The position will also be accountable for defining and sustaining long-term strategies for cybersecurity, critical system resilience and recovery, and the adoption of innovative technologies that support future business needs.
Main duties and responsibilities:
Lead by example and strive to perform to high standards at all times in compliance with Credo and Standards of Leadership. Act as a role model for all colleagues within the Automation Group and GET.
Lead the lifecycle management, governance, and continuous improvement of critical industrial automation systems, including Honeywell Building Automation, Siemens PLC, and DeltaV process control systems.
Develop, manage, and control project budgets and Capital Acquisition Requests (CARs) while driving long-range financial planning to support the site's automation strategy and future investment needs.
Own the development and delivery of multi-year roadmaps for industrial automation systems, driving lifecycle sustainability, technology innovation, cybersecurity resilience, and capital investment planning.
Lead business engagement and stakeholder management activities to ensure industrial automation systems effectively support manufacturing, compliance, reliability, and future business requirements.
Provision of suitable training courses and training material
Assure the safe execution of job activities in the Automation systems area and follow good environmental practices and procedures.
Develop and monitor Automation systems Department metrics/KPIs to ensure that departmental goals and targets are met.
Drive efficiencies across the GET/AUTOMATION area, GET function and site through suitable adoption of new technologies and enhanced approaches to how we operate (Challenge the Status Quo and drive improvement).
Working with platform and CoE leads to solicit and deploy technologies, systems and sharing to improve globally.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Essential
Third level Degree in engineering, science or an IT discipline.
Minimum of 5 years of Leadership and Delivery Execution
Minimum of 8 years of experience within a pharmaceutical or GMP regulated manufacturing environment.
Desirable
Experience in supervision/management of people and resources
In-depth Technical knowledge of S95 Level 1 systems such as Emerson DeltaV, OSI Pi, PLCs, IT Infrastructure & Hardware.
Key appreciation of Industrial Automation Networks and their Communication Protocols.
Strong DeltaV Batch Control experience along with process knowledge for Upstream, Downstream and Bio Processing Support functions.
Strong understanding of ISA-95 Level 4 systems and their capabilities, including ERP, Quality Management Systems, and enterprise data platforms.
In-depth understanding of the ISA S95 & S88 standards and how they should be used within the Global Supply Chain
Good appreciation of Industry 4.0/IIoT and how we can effectively drive to transform within this framework
Strong understanding of emerging digital technologies and their application in transforming biopharmaceutical manufacturing and business operations.
