What you will have an opportunity to do:
We are looking for a highly motivated, strategic, and hands-on individual to join our team as Director of Engineering. This key leadership role oversees the maintenance, repair, and operation of all hotel facilities, equipment, and physical assets. The Director of Engineering ensures the property is maintained to the highest standards of safety, efficiency, functionality, and guest satisfaction while managing departmental budgets, capital projects, and preventative maintenance programs.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in engineering and facilities management within a hotel, resort, or similar environment. They will be a strong leader, problem solver, and team builder with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional service standards and operational excellence.
Your Role:
- * Oversee the daily operations of the Engineering Department, ensuring all building systems and equipment are operating efficiently and safely.
- * Develop and manage preventative maintenance programs for guest rooms, public areas, mechanical systems, and hotel infrastructure.
- * Lead, train, coach, and develop engineering team members while maintaining appropriate staffing levels and performance standards.
- * Manage maintenance requests and work order systems to ensure timely resolution of issues affecting guests and operations.
- * Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including life safety, environmental, OSHA, and building code requirements.
- * Develop and manage departmental operating and capital budgets, controlling costs while maintaining property standards.
- * Plan, coordinate, and oversee renovation projects, capital improvements, and major repairs.
- * Maintain strong relationships with contractors, vendors, and service providers to ensure quality work and cost-effective solutions.
- * Conduct regular inspections of the property to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and opportunities for operational improvements.
- * Monitor utility consumption and implement energy management initiatives to improve efficiency and sustainability.
- * Respond to emergency situations and provide leadership during facility-related incidents or system failures.
- * Maintain accurate records, reports, permits, and documentation related to engineering operations and compliance requirements.
- * Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, making recommendations to improve property performance.
- * Meet departmental goals and performance objectives as established by hotel leadership.
