Opportunity awaits in Medora. The Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation (TRMF) is seeking motivated college students for paid Summer 2027 internship opportunities in Accounting, Human Resources, Marketing, Hospitality, Group Event Services, and Information Technology. Interns will gain hands-on experience in their area of study while contributing to a mission-driven tourism and hospitality organization in the heart of the North Dakota Badlands. 


TRMF welcomes guests from around the world through lodging, attractions, entertainment, education, and guest-service experiences. Our internship program is designed for students who want meaningful work, professional growth, and a summer experience that builds confidence, leadership skills, and career readiness. 

Internship Areas 


Summer 2027 internship opportunities may be available in the following areas: 

  • Accounting: Support accounting operations, reconciliations, accounts payable, reporting, and other finance-related projects. 
  • Human Resources: Assist with onboarding, employee communication, HR administration, training support, compliance processes, and seasonal workforce initiatives. 
  • Marketing: Contribute to marketing campaigns, content creation, guest engagement, digital media, events, and promotional projects. 
  • Hospitality – Hotel Front Desk: Gain guest-service and lodging operations experience through reservations, check-in/check-out support, guest communication, and front desk operations. 
  • Group Event Services: Assist with group reservations, event coordination, guest communication, logistics, and support for memorable group experiences. 
  • Information Technology: Support technology systems, help desk needs, equipment setup, troubleshooting, and technology projects that support seasonal operations.

Internship assignments will vary based on department needs, student interests, academic requirements, and business priorities. 

The Trailblazers Internship Program 


In addition to department-based work, interns will participate in The Trailblazers, TRMF’s structured 12-week internship program. 


The Trailblazers experience is designed to help students grow as professionals, connect with mentors, and understand how hospitality, leadership, and service come together in a fast-paced seasonal environment. 


Through the program, interns will: 

  • Participate in leadership and management development sessions. 
  • Read and discuss Unreasonable Hospitality by Will Guidara. 
  • Connect with TRMF leaders, mentors, and peers throughout the season. 
  • Apply classroom knowledge to real-world projects and operational challenges. 
  • Complete a capstone project that contributes to department goals and creates lasting value for TRMF. 

The Trailblazers program gives interns the opportunity to build practical skills, reflect on their leadership style, and leave the summer with meaningful experience they can carry into future careers. 


Who Should Apply 

Ideal candidates are current college students or recent graduates pursuing a degree or career interest related to accounting, human resources, marketing, hospitality, event services, information technology, business, communications, tourism, or a related field. Strong candidates will be dependable, curious, service-minded, and eager to learn in a team-oriented environment. 

Internship Details 

  • Paid summer internship opportunities. 
  • Program length: approximately 12 weeks during the Summer 2027 operating season. 
  • Interviews and the selection process will begin in mid-January. 
  • Internships will begin May 24, 2027. 
  • Seasonal housing may be available, subject to availability and applicable housing terms. 
  • Interns must be able to work in Medora, North Dakota, and meet department schedule expectations, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, or special events depending on the internship area.
