THE ROLE
This position is responsible for the daily operation of Events, Operations, Guest Services, Box Office and Security at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum to ensure the safety, security and enjoyment of employees, clients and guests. The incumbent will ensure that all departments work in sync so that venue operates optimally at all times and that patrons, clients and promoter/production managers are consistently treated in a first class, professional manner while producing successful events.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
As a member of the arena’s Executive team, actively participates in the discussion and decision-making process related to all areas of event operations.
Ensures all programs and procedures are in place to maintain security, safety and enjoyment of clients, guests and employees on a daily and event basis.
Supervises heads of multiple departments (Guest Services, Event Services, Security, Box Office) including hiring, performance reviews, career development, and direction of daily activities and management of their respective employees.
Participates in and contributes actively to all Executive team meetings.
Responsible for approved purchases within Events/Operations/Guest Services/Security departments.
Prepares Minimum of 3 Bids, Select vendors, and contract with qualified professionals for the various outsourced operations, monitor progression of work to completion.
Develops practical and realistic Operational and Capital budgets, as well as, approve and monitor operational expenses.
Ensures all operational activities related to the holding events at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, from preparation of production estimates, to actual event costs are handled timely and accurately.
Serves as the Events liaison with other Managers, Promoters, Tour and/or Event Managers, City Agencies and Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum Ownership.
Develops effective working relationships with local fire and police departments and other government agencies.
Serves as Manager on Duty for arena events.
Oversee security and safety SOP, including monthly meetings, safety walk-throughs, follow-ups and training.
Ensures protocol is followed regarding Legends Global See Something, Say Something program.
Oversees Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum’s security initiatives and operations including developing, maintaining, and overseeing the operation of security tools, processes, and policies to defend, detect, and respond to threats, vulnerabilities, and attacks targeting the company.
Oversee & ensure processing, adjudication and disposition of corporate personnel security actions and are compliant with US Government and International statutory, regulatory, customer contractual and business requirements.
Participates in Union negotiations and contract compliance and effectively interacts with Union representatives
Works closely and effectively with subcontractors as well as sponsors as required to ensure agreements are upheld and relationships solid.
Maintain a positive rapport with promoters providing assistance and information promptly and accurately upon request.
Continuously reviews current operations needs and makes recommendations to the General Manager.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with all Legends Global policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Supervises heads of multiple departments (Guest Services, Event Services, Security, Box Office) including hiring, performance reviews, career development, and direction of daily activities and management of their respective employees.

Education and/or Experience
A minimum education level of BA/BS Degree (4-year) in Facility Management, Sports Management or related area
At least 10 – 15 years’ experience in a managerial capacity in facility arena operations and event production.
Skills and Abilities
Proven leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor and motivate a diverse workforce.
Ability to effectively interact with all levels of management, promoters, suppliers, guests and visitors.
Ability to build strong working relationships with local fire and police departments and other government entities.
Ability to multi-task and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work a demanding schedule including nights, weekends, holidays, double shifts.
Excellent verbal, written and public relations skills.
Knowledge of the functions, operations, and equipment of a multi-purpose entertainment complex.
Knowledge of and compliance with Federal and State OSHA regulations
Knowledge of safety practices, including first aid and all applicable safety standards for public facilities.
Strong analysis skills
Understanding of security methods and technical elements to protect the organization.
Budgetary input and responsibility for security personnel based on current and future platform enhancement, as well as, investigative and intelligence activities.
Experience managing in a Union environment.
Proficient with Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel and preferably Auto Cad.
