Description
Seeking an experienced Technical Writer / Editor to support U.S. Marine Corps technical documentation requirements related to Aviation Command and Control projects, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Range Cards.
The Technical Writer / Editor will research, develop, coordinate, edit, and manage technical documentation while working closely with Government personnel, project engineers, management, and other contractors.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and edit technical documentation, procedures, and guidelines supporting Aviation Command and Control and C5ISR systems and equipment
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Range Cards
- Coordinate the production and review of technical documents with Government project engineers, management, and contractor personnel
- Incorporate AutoCAD drawings, digital photographs, and scanned images into Microsoft Word technical documents
- Conduct independent technical research and coordinate with subject matter experts and other sources to develop accurate technical content
- Track technical document drafts through the review and approval process and oversee final production in accordance with project deadlines
- Attend technical document In-Progress Review (IPR) meetings
- Ensure technical documentation is written clearly and accurately in accordance with The Chicago Manual of Style
- Develop SOPs and Range Cards in accordance with MCO 3550.9A
- Ensure technical products meet established formatting, quality, and documentation requirements
Qualifications:
- Active Secret security clearance required
- Experience in Aviation Command and Control or a related field
- Experience writing and editing technical documentation, SOPs, procedures, guidelines, and/or Range Cards
- Knowledge or experience with C5ISR systems or equipment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and experience incorporating technical drawings, photographs, and other graphics into formal documentation
- Strong technical research, writing, editing, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to coordinate multiple technical documents and meet established project deadlines
- Experience supporting USMC or DoD technical documentation requirements preferred
