Description
We are seeking an experienced Utility Foreman to manage and lead a crew performing underground wet utility construction, including the installation of sanitary sewer, storm sewer, water main, manholes, structures, and related underground infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest level of quality. As a key member of our team, the Foreman will work closely with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure that projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise crews performing underground wet utility installation, including water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, manholes, and related infrastructure.
- Read and interpret utility plans, specifications, grades, and project layouts to ensure proper installation of underground utilities.
- Coordinate trenching, pipe installation, backfilling, testing, and tie-ins while maintaining production, safety, and quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with excavation, trench safety, and utility installation requirements.
- Ensure that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest level of quality
- Ensure that all crew members comply with relevant laws, regulations, and safety standards
- Communicate regularly with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure that work is completed on schedule and within budget
- Develop and maintain relationships with crew members and subcontractors to ensure that they are aware of project schedules and deadlines
- Train crew members on safety procedures and best practices
- Manage project resources, including materials and equipment, to ensure that they are used efficiently and effectively
- Identify and resolve issues that arise during construction projects
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework or vocational training preferred
- 5+ years of experience in underground wet utility construction, including water, storm sewer, and sanitary sewer installation.
- Previous experience leading crews on underground utility projects as a Foreman, Leadman, or similar supervisory role.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze project data and identify trends and opportunities for improvement
- Experience with government contracts and compliance is a plus
