Rate: $43.00/hr plus shift differentials

Completion Bonus at the end of the assignment if all hours/requirements have been met.  

  

Requirements:  

12 hours per week  

(4) day New Hire/Patient Care Orientation  

The Medical Technologist Generalist (MT) utilizes education, experience and analytical judgment to provide the most accurate possible specimen assay results. The job duties include examining and performing tests on various specimen types to provide patient management information to clinicians in the areas of Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Transfusion Service and Specimen Processing. The technologist may be trained in all or selected areas dependent on laboratory needs. Laboratory and Corporate Compliance, as outlined by the OIG and HCFA, is an important aspect of our laboratory's environment. Each employee is expected to be knowledgeable of and behave in accordance with the Laboratory and Medical Center Compliance Plans. Patients served at Cook Children's Medical Center range in age from newborn through the adolescent period. Additionally, adults are occasionally served. Specific instructions appear in the procedure manuals.

Education/Experience:

  • Have earned a bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution or completed the requirements for the AMT or HEW certification.

  • At least one year of laboratory training or experience or both, in high complexity testing is preferred.


Certification/Licensure:

  • Must be MT (ASCP), MT (AMT), or MT (HEW), or equivalent registered or eligible. Prefer MT(ASCP).
