Job Description
About the role:
This is a highly cross-functional role that requires strong commercial acumen, partner management discipline, product lifecycle expertise, and the ability to influence across R&D, PMO, US region marketing, solution design, service, sales, finance, supply chain, legal, quality, regulatory, and external partner organizations.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Partnerships & Business Development
Identify, evaluate, and prioritize third-party partnership opportunities that help address portfolio gaps, expand solution breadth, and improve BD’s Central Fill competitiveness.
Support build, buy, or partner assessments by developing market analysis, customer need assessments, business cases, strategic fit evaluations, and commercial recommendations.
Partner with legal, finance, procurement, quality, regulatory, R&D, and commercial teams to support partnership assessment, contracting, onboarding, and governance.
Develop partnership strategies that align external capabilities with BD’s Central Fill roadmap, customer requirements, and long-term platform strategy.
Monitor competitive activity, market trends, and emerging technologies to inform partnership priorities and future growth opportunities.
Third-Party Relationship Management
Serve as the primary marketing lead for assigned third-party partner relationships within the Central Fill portfolio.
Establish governance routines, performance expectations, communication cadences, and escalation processes to ensure effective partner execution.
Partner with solution design, sales, service, implementation, and regional marketing teams to ensure third-party solutions are positioned, sold, deployed, and supported consistently.
Track partner performance, customer feedback, issue trends, and commercial outcomes to identify risks, improvement opportunities, and future growth potential.
Ensure partner-related messaging, collateral, training, and customer-facing content are accurate, differentiated, and aligned with BD brand and portfolio strategy.
Hardware Sustaining Strategy: Pouch, Blister, and Vision
Lead product lifecycle management for assigned Central Fill hardware categories, including pouch, blister, and vision automation.
Define sustaining product strategies that support reliability, customer satisfaction, adoption, revenue growth, and long-term portfolio health.
Partner with R&D, service, quality, regulatory, supply chain, and manufacturing teams to prioritize sustaining needs, roadmap updates, technical improvements, and lifecycle decisions.
Develop positioning, value propositions, claims, and competitive messaging that clarify the role of pouch, blister, and vision automation within BD’s broader Central Fill ecosystem.
Support evidence generation and performance validation efforts to quantify customer value, strengthen ROI tools, and improve commercial confidence.
Identify upgrade, refresh, simplification, and end-of-life opportunities that improve customer experience and enable long-term portfolio optimization
Commercial Excellence & Market Insights
Develop sales enablement tools, launch content, training materials, competitive positioning, and customer-facing messaging to support commercial execution.
Conduct market research, customer engagement, VOC activities, and competitive intelligence to inform portfolio strategy and partnership decisions.
Collaborate with regional marketing and sales teams to support customer roadmap conversations, strategic account planning, and opportunity development.
Monitor product and partner performance, revenue contribution, market feedback, and adoption trends to inform strategic recommendations.
Support pricing, acquisition model, and monetization discussions for third-party solutions and sustaining hardware offerings.
Cross-Functional Leadership
Lead through influence across a complex matrix organization to drive alignment, accountability, and execution.
Serve as the marketing representative on assigned sustaining engineering, partnership, and portfolio initiatives.
Partner closely with R&D, PMO, finance, legal, regulatory, quality, service, solution design, sales, supply chain, and regional marketing teams.
Translate customer needs and business priorities into actionable requirements, roadmap inputs, and commercial strategies.
Communicate clearly with leadership on progress, risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Engineering, Life Sciences, Healthcare Administration, or related field required.
5+ years of experience in product management, marketing, business development, strategic partnerships, or related commercial roles.
Experience managing third-party partnerships, alliance relationships, or external technology collaborations.
Experience working in medical technology, healthcare technology, automation, software-enabled hardware, pharmacy automation, or a related industry.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional programs in a matrixed environment.
Strong business acumen with experience developing strategic recommendations, business cases, and market assessments.
Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines.
Ability to travel domestically up to 30% of the time.
Preferred Skills
MBA or advanced degree preferred.
Experience with product lifecycle management, sustaining engineering, portfolio strategy, or hardware commercialization.
Experience supporting build, buy, or partner evaluations.
Familiarity with pharmacy automation, Central Fill operations, medication packaging, vision verification, or high-volume fulfillment workflows.
Experience developing commercial messaging, sales enablement, claims, ROI tools, or evidence-generation plans.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize customer insights, market trends, financial inputs, and operational requirements into clear recommendations.
