Description

About the role

A.P. Moller - Maersk is an integrated container logistics company and member of the A.P. Moller Group. Within APM Terminals, we are looking for a Validation Engineer to support the consistent validation and service assurance of Edge Platform capabilities across our global terminal estate.

The role combines practical validation knowledge with a strong assurance and service readiness focus. The emphasis is on confirming that outcomes meet agreed requirements, risks and defects are visible, evidence is complete, controls are followed and services are ready to operate and support. You will work independently under general direction, apply sound judgement, and communicate clear recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Who we are looking for

You are an organized and credible validation professional who can bring structure to complex change, ask constructive questions and turn technical inputs into clear assurance and readiness decisions. You are comfortable working across cultures and time zones and can travel to terminal and stakeholder locations when required.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate end-to-end validation and assurance activities for Edge Platform products, services and deployments, including third-party solutions.
  • Maintain clear validation plans, assurance checklists, acceptance criteria, entry and exit criteria, and readiness gates aligned to agreed requirements and risk.
  • Confirm traceability from requirements and controls through test coverage, results, defects, operational evidence and final acceptance decisions.
  • Review the quality and completeness of validation evidence, challenge gaps and ensure decisions are supported by objective records.
  • Coordinate functional, resilience, performance, recoverability, security and operational readiness validation with the accountable subject matter experts.
  • Facilitate assurance reviews, validation workshops, defect triage, readiness checkpoints and service acceptance forums.
  • Ensure defects, deviations, risks, dependencies and non-conformances are recorded, owned, assessed and resolved or formally accepted before release.
  • Assess operational readiness across support models, monitoring, backup and recovery, documentation, runbooks, service management processes, access, training and handover.
  • Provide concise, evidence-based readiness summaries and recommendations, including clear conditions, residual risks and actions where acceptance is not yet appropriate.
  • Work with Platform Architects, Product and Engineering teams, Cyber Security, Operations, Service Management, regional IT and terminal IT to achieve quality outcomes.
  • Support independent assurance by respectfully challenging assumptions, identifying control weaknesses and escalating material gaps through the agreed governance route.
  • Define and maintain useful validation and assurance measures, including evidence completeness, defect status, readiness progress, exceptions and acceptance decisions.
  • Capture lessons learned and turn them into practical improvements to standards, templates, controls and ways of working.

Essential skills and experience

  • Relevant experience in validation engineering, service validation, quality assurance, test coordination, operational readiness or service acceptance.
  • Experience supporting complex infrastructure, platform, operational technology or enterprise technology change in a multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Practical knowledge of validation lifecycle activities, test planning, assurance methods, acceptance criteria, evidence management, defect governance and readiness assessment.
  • Ability to interpret requirements, risks and controls and establish clear traceability to validation evidence and acceptance outcomes.
  • Working knowledge of ITIL practices and service transition or service acceptance governance.
  • Broad technical understanding of infrastructure and platform services, with the ability to coordinate validation and assurance across networks, compute, storage, virtualisation, backup, recovery, monitoring, observability and cyber security.
  • Experience producing validation plans, assurance packs, readiness reports, decision papers, dashboards or governance updates.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and confidence identifying gaps, inconsistencies and unsupported claims.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain evidence, risk and readiness to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence, challenge constructively, follow through on actions and support evidence-based decisions.
  • Collaborative and improvement-focused mindset, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Quality Management, Risk Management or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.

Desirable skills and experience

  • Experience with risk and control frameworks, cyber security assurance, compliance, audit or regulated environments.
  • Experience in industrial, operational technology or critical infrastructure settings.
  • Experience with test management, requirements traceability, defect management, reporting or collaboration tools.
  • Familiarity with test automation, data analysis or scripting used to improve validation execution, evidence collection and reporting.
  • Experience defining KPIs, quality measures, dashboards and operational readiness reporting.
  • Experience contributing to continuous improvement, lessons learned, Kaizen or assurance maturity initiatives.
