KADIN Net Zero Hub Lead - Energy and Sustainable Business Program

This is a hybrid position which requires 8 days per month in the office. You will be based in our office in WRI Indonesia, Jakarta. Existing work authorization is required at the time of application submission as WRI is unable to sponsor any visa work sponsorship for this position. 

Program Overview

World Resources Institute (WRI) is an independent global research organization that turns big ideas into action at the nexus of environment, economic opportunity, and human well-being. The Energy and Sustainable Business (ESB) program works to advance decarbonization among corporates and accelerate a just transition towards net zero emission in Indonesia, while balancing the need for economic development. In achieving that, WRI introduces two of its flagship products, which are: Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHGP) for emission accounting and Science-based Targets initiative (SBTi) for ambitious and science-aligned emission reduction target setting, within and beyond corporate value chains. By adapting the tools to the national context, WRI Indonesia guides corporates towards their complete net zero journey, aiming to increase Indonesian corporates' competitiveness through strengthened standards and climate mitigation/adaptation measures which ultimately contribute significantly to Indonesia's emission reduction.

KADIN Net Zero Hub

The KADIN Net Zero Hub is a flagship initiative that enables industry-led, science-based net zero commitments in Indonesia. Established with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN Indonesia) and delivered together with partners including the Indonesia Business Council for Sustainable Development (IBCSD) as the secretariat and WRI Indonesia as the knowledge partner, the Hub builds a supportive ecosystem in which industrial players can collaborate, learn, and scale their decarbonization efforts. WRI Indonesia leads the initiative's business transformation and technical content, translating global frameworks — the GHG Protocol for emission accounting and the Science-based Targets initiative (SBTi) for target setting — into practice for Indonesian companies.

The Hub delivers its support through three connected pillars:

1. Raising Ambition: Advance industry progress towards net zero through capacity building, transparency, and recognition. Several flagship programs on this pillars includes a) the Corporate Assistance Program (CAP), which provides intensive technical assistance so companies can establish an emission baseline, make a public commitment, and set and validate science-based net zero targets; and b) a learning management platform (Net Zero Learning Hub) that gives industrial practitioners continuing access to training and resources.

2. Solution Scaling: Increase access to climate solutions by improving availability, affordability, and relevance across technology, finance, and data solution.

3. Policy Engagement: Advocate for supportive regulations and incentives on decarbonization.

Job Highlight

The KADIN Net Zero Hub Lead is responsible to support the development and refinement the Hub’s strategy and trasnslate it into effective implementation and leading the delivery of its program and activities. The role combines technical leadership on corporate decarbonization with program management and high-level relationship management including developing the Hub's annual work plan and targets under the guidance of Line Manager, leading the Corporate Assistance Program and the Hub's tools and learning products, managing the delivery team, and maintaining productive relationships with KADIN Indonesia, partner organizations, member companies, and donors. The Lead is expected to stay abreast of corporate climate standards and disclosure requirements (GHG Protocol, SBTi, ISSB/IFRS S2, GRI, CDP), as well as relevant decarbonization solutions for hard-to-abate and manufacturing sectors, and the Indonesian policy developments that shape corporate incentives to act. Strong technical judgment, credibility with business and technical audiences, facilitation skills, and the ability to convert commitments into measurable implementation are essential for this position.

This position will be based in Jakarta with an office-flex working arrangement, reporting directly to the Net Zero Senior Analyst while working closely and collaboratively with the research and engagement teams within the Energy and Sustainable Business portfolio and with counterparts at KADIN Indonesia and partner organizations. What You Will Do

Program Strategy and Delivery (30%)

• Support the development and refinement of the KADIN Net Zero Hub's strategy and translate agreed strategic priorities into annual work plan, targets, and budget requirement, in consultation with the Outcomes Manager, KADIN Indonesia, and Hub partners.

• Lead and oversee the delivery of all Hub workstreams, ensuring quality, timeliness, and alignment with agreed work plans and WRI's technical standards.

• Monitor Hub performance against agreed indicators (companies engaged, baselines established, commitments made, targets submitted and validated, implementation milestones), and adapt the program based on what the data shows.

• Ensure the Hub's technical content stays current with the GHG Protocol, SBTi criteria, and evolving disclosure and transition-plan expectations relevant to Indonesian companies.

Corporate Engagement and Technical Assistance (35%)

• Lead the design and delivery of the Corporate Assistance Program, including cohort selection, curriculum, technical review of company baselines and targets, and quality assurance of company outputs.

• Provide senior technical guidance to participating companies on GHG inventory development, science-based target setting, decarbonization levers and abatement planning, renewable energy sourcing, and value-chain (Scope 3) engagement.

• Support companies to move from commitment to implementation, including transition planning, internal governance and capital allocation, and disclosure of progress.

• Build and maintain a pipeline of new participating companies across priority sectors and supply chains, including small and medium enterprises where relevant, in coordination with Line Manager.

Partnership, Stakeholder Engagement, and Thought Leadership (20%)

• Serve as WRI Indonesia's day-to-day focal point for WRI Indonesia’s engagement with KADIN Indonesia, IBCSD, and other Hub partners, and keep the partnership productive and well governed.

• Represent the Hub in forums, government consultations, and international platforms, and contribute to media engagement where appropriate and in coordination with Line Manager and Communication team.

• Coordinate the translation of Hub experience into public knowledge and communication products — impact report, case studies, guidance, blogs, and op-eds — that raise the standard of corporate climate action in Indonesia in coordination with relevant team within WRI Indonesia

• Connect corporate demand surfaced through the Hub to WRI Indonesia's policy work on energy transition and industrial decarbonization, so that barriers companies raise are carried into policy dialogue.

Team, Budget, and Donor Management (15%)

• Manage, coach, and develop the Hub delivery team, setting clear objectives and providing regular feedback.

• Contribute to project reporting and collective fundraising effort to sustain and grow the Hub.

• Manage project budgets, workplans, and compliance requirements in coordination with WRI Indonesia's operations team.

What You Will Need

• Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, industrial engineering, sustainability management, environmental science, business, or other related field. Master's degree is preferred.

• Minimum of 4 (four) years of relevant professional work experience in corporate sustainability, industrial decarbonization, or climate advisory, or other relevant field with demonstrable experience leading a project or major client portfolio.

• Strong command of GHG accounting under the GHG Protocol (Scope 1, 2, and 3) and of the Science-based Targets initiative (SBTi) criteria and validation process; hands-on experience taking a company through target setting is a strong advantage.

• Familiarity with corporate disclosure and reporting standards (e.g., ISSB/IFRS S2, GRI, CDP, TCFD) and with the sustainability expectations placed on Indonesian companies by buyers, investors, and regulators.

• Good working knowledge of decarbonization solutions for manufacturing and hard-to-abate sectors — energy efficiency, electrification, fuel and feedstock substitution, renewable energy procurement, and carbon capture — and of their commercial trade-offs.

• Demonstrated ability to build trust effectively working relationship with Indonesian business stakeholder, and experience engaging private sector business functions strategically and at technical levels.

• Experience managing multi-stakeholder partnerships and managing project activities, including work planning, budgeting, reporting, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders

• Experience supervising, managing and coordinating a team, with a collaborative approach.

• Ability to communicate complex technical material clearly and persuasively to executive and technical audiences, both in Bahasa Indonesia and English, in writing and in public speaking.

• Excellent communication, listening, facilitation, and interpersonal skills to maintain positive coordination within the team and with external counterparts.

• Highly motivated, target-oriented, with a strong can-do attitude, proactive work style, excellent organizational skills and work ethic, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team.

• Ability and willingness to travel when needed.

• Legally able to work in Indonesia, preferably based in Jakarta.

Contract Arrangement 

Full-time with fixed-term employment agreement for 6 (six) months with a possibility of extension up to 31 August 2027 subject to individual performance, project needs, and budget availability.
