Description

About the Role: X-Bow is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Hardware Engineer to join our Safety Devices team. This role involves leading the design, development, testing, qualification, and manufacturing of safety-critical hardware systems that enable the safe operation of rocket motors, flight-termination systems, warheads, and other advanced technologies; devices such as Ignition Safety Devices (ISDs), Electronic Safe & Arm Devices (ESADs), and fuzes.

As a Hardware Engineer, you will ensure these systems meet stringent safety, performance, and regulatory standards while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions. You will lead requirement verification, conduct detailed analyses to support system-level design decisions, and oversee the transition from design to manufacturing. Your expertise in reliability, risk analysis, and safety-critical design will be instrumental in driving innovation and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment, collaborating with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing engineers to ensure seamless integration and production readiness. You will also develop prototypes, oversee testing, and document processes to maintain traceability and regulatory adherence.

If you are passionate about designing and delivering high-quality, safety-critical hardware systems and thrive in a collaborative and fast-paced setting, we encourage you to apply and join our innovative team.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, testing, qualification, and manufacturing of safety-critical hardware systems throughout their lifecycle.
  • Verify requirements to ensure alignment with safety, performance, and regulatory standards as guided by USG Safety Boards.
  • Document design processes, test results, and compliance with standards to ensure traceability, quality, and regulatory adherence.
  • Conduct detailed analyses to support system-level design decisions, including reliability and risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing engineers, to ensure seamless integration and production readiness.
  • Develop prototypes and oversee testing to validate design performance and compliance with requirements.
  • Manage the transition from design to manufacturing, ensuring designs are optimized for production and meet quality standards.

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an advanced degree in Systems Engineering with Electrical Engineering experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related industry experience.
  • Proven experience in product development, including design, testing, qualification, and manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of system-level design principles, including reliability, risk analysis, and safety-critical design.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-1901a and MIL-STD-1316 standards or similar regulatory frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, and validation of hardware systems.
  • Ability to track requirements and link test results, design decisions, and analyses to requirement fulfillment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and quality.
  • Experience with environmental testing and qualification processes for hardware systems.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Project management skills, with the ability to manage timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and Design For Manufacturability (DFM) principles.

What We Offer:

  • The chance to work on groundbreaking projects in the aerospace industry
  • A collaborative and inclusive work environment with flexible and remote options
  • Opportunities for career growth and development
  • Competitive compensation and benefits
