Description
Description
For more than 60 years, Tyndale has helped readers discover the life-giving truths of God's Word. Today we're one of the largest independently owned Christian publishers in the world. Though our business has grown, our mission remains the same: to open God's Word to as many as possible in language they can relate to and understand.
Before a Bible or book ever reaches a reader, someone has to build the set, check it for defects, label it, and wrap it. That's the work you'll do here. As an on-call Material Handler, you'll step in on the manufacturing and special-order projects that get product finished, accurate, and out the door — the hands-on work that stands between a printed book and the person who's waiting to read it.
You'll work onsite at our Carol Stream campus alongside our full-time Distribution team, moving between projects as they come up. No two weeks look exactly alike, and you don't need warehouse experience to start — we'll show you what to do.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and complete special-order fulfillment projects so customers receive exactly what they ordered
- Take on in-house manufacturing projects — building book sets, applying labels to products and cartons, and shrink-wrapping books and Bibles
- Sort product for defects so only quality material reaches readers
- Pick and pack parcel orders when shipping volume calls for extra hands
- Process customer returns for credit and put inventory away into our flow rack to keep picking areas stocked
Schedule
This is an on-call position with variable hours — you'll be contacted as manufacturing and fulfillment projects come up.
- Shifts fall within our normal work schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Occasional optional Saturday hours
- Typical advance notice before a shift, and typical volume of hours available
- Fully on-site in Carol Stream, Illinois
If you're a college student, a retiree, or someone who wants real hands-on work without a fixed weekly commitment, this is a good fit. Many of our on-call team members work around class schedules.
Skills and Qualifications Needed
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Hand dexterity and comfort with detailed, hands-on project work
- Able to read and follow written work instructions, product labels, and safety signage in English
- Good communication skills, and the ability to work well with others and accept direction
- Flexible, focused, attentive to detail, with a consistent work ethic
- Digital aptitude is a plus
- Able to sit, walk, stand, and bend for the duration of a shift, and lift cartons up to 40 lbs.
- No forklift experience required; a willingness to be trained on forklifts is preferred
