Summary: 

The Nuclear Outage Superintendent is responsible for the overall execution of assigned outage, maintenance, and project activities at commercial nuclear generating stations. This role provides direct leadership to craft labor, foremen, and field supervisors while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with client requirements, regulatory standards, quality expectations, and outage schedules.

The Superintendent serves as the primary field leader and company representative on-site, coordinating manpower, work execution, client communication, scheduling, safety performance, and productivity throughout the duration of the outage or project. The position requires a strong background in nuclear maintenance, construction, or outage execution, with a focus on achieving schedule milestones while maintaining the highest standards of nuclear safety culture.

Responsibilities:

· Lead all field execution activities associated with assigned nuclear outage or project scopes.

· Supervise field foremen, craft personnel, subcontractors, and support resources.

· Coordinate daily work activities to ensure outage milestones and client schedules are achieved.

· Conduct daily planning, pre-job briefings, turnover meetings, and work execution reviews.

· Monitor labor productivity, staffing levels, and resource utilization.

· Ensure strict adherence to nuclear safety culture, radiological controls, quality standards, and site procedures.

· Partner with project management and workforce planning teams to forecast manpower needs and mobilize qualified personnel.

· Serve as the primary field interface with client representatives and outage management teams.

· Identify and resolve field issues that could impact schedule, cost, safety, or quality.

· Support corrective action initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.

· Prepare and submit daily progress reports, staffing updates, and work status reports to leadership.

· Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and operational excellence.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

· High school diploma or GED required.

· Minimum of 10 years of industrial, power generation, construction, maintenance, or nuclear experience.

· Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or superintendent-level experience leading multi-craft workforces.

· Demonstrated experience supporting refueling outages, maintenance outages, modifications, or capital projects at commercial nuclear facilities.

· Strong knowledge of nuclear safety culture principles and human performance tools.

· Experience managing craft labor productivity, workforce scheduling, and project execution.

· Ability to read and interpret project specifications, work packages, drawings, procedures, and schedules.

· Strong leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic workforce management systems.

Preferred Qualifications

· Prior experience managing large outage workforces of 25+ personnel.

· Experience supporting mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, welding, scaffold, insulation, or valve maintenance work scopes.

· Previous experience working as a General Foreman, Superintendent, or Outage Manager.

· OSHA 30 certification.

· NCCER or industry-recognized craft certifications.

· Experience working with union labor and hiring hall staffing processes.

· Familiarity with Primavera, Microsoft Project, or other scheduling software.

Requirements

Nuclear Site Requirements

· Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access authorization at nuclear facilities.

· Successfully complete all site-specific training, fitness-for-duty requirements, and background screening requirements.

· Ability to meet all client-specific access authorization and security requirements.

· Ability to pass drug and alcohol screening programs as required by site and federal regulations.

· Ability to work extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays during outage periods.

· Ability to travel and work at various nuclear facilities throughout the United States.

Physical Requirements:

· Perform sustained physical activity, including standing, walking, climbing, and working extended shifts

· Lift, carry, push, and pull tools, materials, and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

· Bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and work in varied body positions

· Work at heights and in confined or restricted spaces

· Work in outdoor and indoor environments under varying weather and site conditions

· Work on uneven, slippery, or rough terrain in active industrial or construction settings

· Wear required personal protective equipment, including fall protection and respiratory protection when required

· Maintain situational awareness and communicate effectively to work safely around moving equipment and hazards
