Description
Marketing & Sales Executive
Rushden
Monday to Friday | Full Time
£27,000–£28,000 + Bonus/Commission | Permanent
We’re working with an established and successful business in Rushden that is looking to appoint a commercially minded Marketing & Sales Executive to join its growing team.
This is a varied role for someone who understands that effective marketing is ultimately about generating sales and delivering a return on investment. You’ll be comfortable picking up the phone and speaking to customers, but equally confident getting involved in digital marketing, branding, campaigns and analysing what is — and isn’t — working.
The successful candidate will have the autonomy to make decisions, suggest new ideas and take ownership of activity rather than simply following instructions.
The Role
You’ll sit across both sales and marketing, helping to drive customer engagement, generate new business and maximise the return from the company’s marketing activity.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Proactively contacting customers following targeted mailshots, digital campaigns, advertising and other marketing activity.
- Making outbound sales calls, following up enquiries and converting opportunities into appointments and sales.
- Managing and developing relationships with existing customers, including proactive aftersales contact.
- Planning, coordinating and delivering marketing activity across digital and traditional channels.
- Supporting the company’s social media, website and digital presence, ensuring content reflects the brand and commercial objectives.
- Getting involved in email marketing, mailshots, advertising, promotions and other lead-generation campaigns.
- Monitoring campaign performance and considering ROI, lead generation, conversion and cost effectiveness.
- Helping to develop the company’s brand and ensuring consistent messaging across customer touchpoints.
- Identifying opportunities to improve marketing activity and recommending new approaches where appropriate.
- Arranging customer appointments and showroom visits.
- Maintaining accurate customer records and ensuring leads are followed up effectively.
- Supporting the wider sales team with customer communication, administration and follow-up.
- Taking ownership of tasks and making sensible commercial decisions without needing to be directed at every stage.
- Working closely with management to identify opportunities to increase enquiries, sales and customer retention.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who combines commercial sales ability with a genuine understanding of modern marketing.
You may come from a sales, telesales, digital marketing or broader marketing background, but you’ll need to be confident operating across both sides of the role.
Ideally, you’ll have:
- Experience in sales, telesales, marketing or a similar commercially focused role.
- A good understanding of digital marketing, social media, lead generation and customer acquisition.
- An understanding of marketing ROI and the importance of measuring whether activity actually generates results.
- An interest in branding and how a business presents itself to its customers.
- Confidence using data and performance information to make decisions and improve campaigns.
- A confident, professional telephone manner and the ability to build rapport quickly.
- Strong commercial awareness and a genuine desire to generate sales.
- The confidence to make decisions, use initiative and take ownership.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisation and attention to detail.
- A proactive approach — someone who sees something that could be improved and does something about it.
- The ability to manage several priorities and adapt as the business changes.
- A positive, hands-on attitude and willingness to get involved across the business.
- A clean driving licence would be advantageous.
The Person
This role would suit someone who doesn’t want to be boxed into either sales or marketing.
You’ll need to be equally happy planning a digital campaign in the morning and picking up the phone to follow up a customer in the afternoon. You’ll understand that good marketing should create opportunities for the sales team, and that sales conversations provide valuable insight into what customers actually want.
Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who is commercially switched-on, proactive and prepared to make calls — whether that means calling a customer, trying a different marketing approach or recommending that something isn’t delivering sufficient return.
Career Progression
This is a role with genuine scope to develop as the business grows.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to broaden their commercial experience across sales, marketing, digital activity, customer development and business growth, with potential progression into a more senior or field-based sales role for the right person.
If you’re commercially driven, understand the link between marketing and sales, and want a role where you can make an impact rather than simply carry out a list of tasks, we’d be keen to hear from you.
