Department: Health Sciences - College of Allied Health

Reports To: Dean, College of Nursing and Allied Health

LOCATION: Green Bay

STANDARD HOURS: Hours may vary. Monday/Thursday 8-4 pm, potential Tuesday/Wednesday coverage depending on the hours of operation in the Dental Assistant Clinic and the Dental Hygiene Clinic. Scheduled to be determined at the time of hire; flexibility required to meet the needs of our students/customers 

PAY RATE: $26.21/hour

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Facilitate cross-cultural communication for non-English speaking dental patients during the appointment including translating patient care interactions between the patient, student, faculty, and dentist, and assisting with completion of health questionnaire forms.
  • Assist with patient appointment scheduling and confirmation for non-English speaking Dental patients.
  • Assist with translation of dental and medical forms and procedural signages for the Dental Assistant and Dental Hygiene Clinics.
  • Adhere to HIPAA privacy laws to protect the confidentiality of patient information.
  • Communicate dental clinic services, protocols, and limitations to non-English speaking patients.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate Degree
  • 2 years of prior customer service/administrative work experience; ideally within the Dental industry.
  • Ability to read, write and speak fluently in Spanish and English
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Workday
  • Knowledge of Dental Software (Dentrix)

**An equivalent combination of work experience and education may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years of experience as a Spanish/English interpreter
  • Certificate in the completion of an Interpreter Training Program or the passing of a Certified Interpreter Exam
