Overview
First-time parents in Mamaroneck, NY (Westchester County) are seeking an experienced and nurturing newborn care specialist to provide hands-on support and guidance during the first 12 weeks of their baby's life (due December 20, 2026), with an option to extend to 14 weeks. The schedule will be 20/7, and the parents are looking for a highly knowledgeable newborn professional who can confidently guide them through this exciting transition while ensuring they are actively involved in their baby's care (and welcoming their input/ preferences). There will be domestic travel to Texas towards the end of the contract.
Responsibilities
- Provide attentive, hands-on newborn care throughout the day and night.
- Manage all aspects of newborn care, including feeding, burping, diapering, bathing, soothing, and settling.
- Support healthy newborn sleep and feeding routines appropriate to the baby's developmental stage.
- Educate and guide the parents as they gain confidence in caring for their baby.
- Encourage and support the mother's breastfeeding goals.
- Provide knowledgeable guidance around breastfeeding and newborn feeding.
- Keep the parents informed about the baby's routines, needs, development, and patterns.
- Work collaboratively with the parents on newborn-care decisions and respect their preferences.
- Support the family's preference for having the baby sleep in the parents' room.
- Help the parents feel confident and prepared to take over independently at the conclusion of the assignment.
- Accompany the family on domestic travel to Texas.
Qualifications
- Significant professional experience caring for newborns, particularly during the first 12–14 weeks.
- Proven experience as a Newborn Care Specialist, Baby Nurse, Postpartum Doula, or in a comparable newborn-care role.
- Strong knowledge of newborn feeding, sleep, soothing, and developmental needs.
- Experience working with first-time parents is highly preferred.
- Lactation experience or certification is a strong plus.
- Warm, nurturing, and patient personality.
- Confident and proactive, with excellent judgment around newborn care.
- Excellent communication skills and an ability to clearly explain recommendations to new parents.
- Comfortable providing expert guidance while allowing parents to remain actively involved.
- Professional, discreet, and respectful of family privacy.
- Flexible and comfortable with a live-in 24/7 schedule and domestic travel.
Requirements
- Must be fully vaccinated for Flu, MMR, Tdap, and RSV.
- Must be able to commit to the full 12-week minimum term.
- Must be comfortable with a live-in 24/7 schedule with a 4-hour daily break.
- Must be comfortable traveling domestically to Texas with the family.
- Must be comfortable with the baby sleeping in the parents' room.
- Must be supportive of breastfeeding and the mother's feeding preferences.
- Must be collaborative and respectful of the parents' role in their baby's care.

Salary and Benefits
- Up to $60/hour, depending on experience and qualifications
