Description
The Assistant Manager will lead and oversee external audit engagements, ensuring that audit procedures, documentation, team deliverables, and client requirements are completed in accordance with professional and firm standards. The role requires strong engagement management, technical audit expertise, and the ability to lead teams and communicate directly with client management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage external audit engagements from planning through completion.
- Oversee the execution of audit procedures and ensure engagements are delivered within agreed timelines, scope, and quality standards.
- Review audit working papers and assess the quality, accuracy, and completeness of audit documentation.
- Manage, review, and provide guidance to Senior Associates, Junior Associates, and other engagement team members.
- Delegate audit assignments appropriately and monitor team progress and deliverables.
- Address and resolve complex audit and accounting issues, exercising appropriate professional judgment and escalating matters when necessary.
- Communicate directly with client management regarding audit requirements, findings, outstanding matters, and engagement progress.
- Coordinate with clients to obtain necessary schedules, documents, explanations, and other audit requirements.
- Monitor engagement timelines, budgets, and resource requirements to ensure efficient execution of engagements.
- Identify potential engagement risks and proactively address issues that may affect audit quality, deadlines, or client expectations.
- Conduct regular reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members to improve audit quality and individual performance.
- Ensure compliance with applicable auditing standards, professional requirements, and internal quality control policies.
- Support engagement planning, risk assessment, and development of appropriate audit approaches.
- Assist in managing client relationships and maintaining effective communication throughout the engagement.
- Contribute to the development and mentoring of audit team members.
Requirements:
- At least 4 years of relevant external audit experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing external audit engagements.
- Experience handling clients from at least two different industries.
- Strong experience reviewing audit working papers and managing the work of audit team members.
- Proven ability to handle complex audit and accounting issues.
- Experience communicating directly with client management and key client stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of engagement planning, timelines, resource allocation, and engagement budgets.
- Experience using audit/accounting software or tools. CaseWare experience is not required, provided the candidate has experience with comparable audit tools.
- Strong technical audit, analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple engagements and priorities effectively.
- CPA is an advantage but is not required, subject to overall qualifications.
