Program Description

Longroad Energy’s internship program provides opportunities for undergraduate students to explore careers in renewable energy. In 2027, Longroad will offer paid internship positions that create challenging hands-on learning experiences for college juniors, entering their senior year in the Fall. Job Overview

The Technical Training & Learning Development Intern will support Longroad’s Operations training program and Longroad University by helping evaluate, organize, develop, and improve technical and compliance learning resources. Working primarily with the Training Manager, the intern will also collaborate with Operations, Site Operations, ROC, EHS, Regulatory Compliance, Engineering, HR, and subject-matter experts to understand training needs and turn business requirements into practical learning solutions.

The internship is designed around a defined summer project that produces usable training deliverables while giving the intern broad exposure to renewable-energy operations, learning technology, instructional design, training data, and cross-functional project work. Ideal work location in Phoenix, AZ, or Portland, OR.

Responsibilities

• Review and organize existing Longroad University courses, curricula, training records, and supporting resources for selected Operations audiences.
• Conduct stakeholder/SME interviews and document training needs, gaps, duplication, and opportunities for improvement.
• Assist with development or refresh of e-learning, microlearning, job aids, presentations, quizzes, scenarios, and other training materials.
• Help map training requirements to job roles, teams, or sites and support cleanup/standardization of curriculum assignments and course metadata.
• Analyze completion/reporting data and prepare clear summaries, charts, or recommendations for the Training Manager and stakeholders.
• Support testing and quality review of LMS courses and learner experiences, including mobile usability and navigation.
• Maintain project documentation, version control, schedules, and status updates; incorporate feedback and meet agreed milestones.
• Be able to work in field with various incremental weather. 
• Participate in cross-functional meetings, learning events, and a wind/solar/BESS site visit when available.
• Prepare and deliver a final presentation summarizing the project, results, lessons learned, and recommended next steps.

Minimum Qualifications

• Undergraduate student at a 4-year college
• Preferred major of Education, Instructional Design, Liberal Arts, Human Resources
• GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Preferred coursework or experience in instructional design, education/training, communications, business, organizational development, engineering, environmental/energy studies, or a related field
• Strong analytical skills and ability to organize information from multiple sources
• Clear written and verbal communication and comfort working with subject-matter experts
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, accept feedback, and work independently
• Interest in learning technology, e-learning development, technical writing, or renewable-energy operations
• Experience with an LMS, e-learning authoring tool, or basic media editing is a plus but not required
• Interest in the renewable energy industry

• Strong written and organizational skills
• Microsoft Excel proficiency
• Cover letter highly preferred
• Intermediate Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel skills; experience with Teams/SharePoint is helpful

Compensation

This role pays $25 hour.
