This position is for an experienced Licensed Loan Officer Assistant (LOA) who provides administrative, operational, and customer service support to an assigned Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO). The LOA plays a critical role in managing the loan pipeline, coordinating loan activities, maintaining communication with borrowers and referral partners, and ensuring an efficient mortgage process from application through closing.

 

Tri City National Bank offers a full suite of mortgage products, including Conventional, FHLBC, FHA, VA, WHEDA, Portfolio ARMs, Single Close Construction, HELOC, HELOAN, ARM, and Bridge loans. The LOA serves as an extension of the MLO, helping deliver exceptional customer service while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, Bank policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Support an assigned Mortgage Loan Originator in managing daily loan origination activities and maintaining an organized loan pipeline.
• Assist borrowers throughout the mortgage process by collecting required documentation, reviewing files for completeness, and responding to questions in a timely manner.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for customers, referral partners, processors, underwriters, and closing personnel as directed by the MLO.
• Maintain regular communication with borrowers regarding loan status, documentation requirements, and closing timelines.
• Prepare and review loan application packages to ensure accuracy and completeness before submission.
• Coordinate and monitor loan files through processing, underwriting, approval, closing, and funding.
• Assist in scheduling appointments, preparing correspondence, and managing follow-up activities for the MLO.
• Maintain accurate loan records and documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures.
• Monitor pipeline milestones and proactively follow up on outstanding conditions to facilitate timely loan closings.
• Collaborate with internal departments and branch personnel to ensure a seamless customer experience.
• Remain current on mortgage products, industry regulations, compliance requirements, and Bank policies and procedures.
• Report any process, procedure, or activity that does not meet regulatory requirements, including suspected or confirmed fraud, to management.

Qualifications

• Two to four years of mortgage industry experience, preferably supporting a Mortgage Loan Originator or working in loan origination, processing, or related mortgage operations.
• Active NMLS license in good standing or the ability to obtain and maintain required licensing.
• Strong verbal, written, listening, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build and maintain positive customer relationships.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong problem-solving, planning, and time management skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and evolving mortgage environment.
• Demonstrated integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Experience using mortgage loan origination systems; Mortgagebot experience preferred.
• Knowledge of current mortgage lending regulations and compliance requirements.
• Strong understanding of Conventional, FHA, VA, and WHEDA mortgage programs, including processing, documentation, underwriting, and closing requirements.
• Working knowledge of CFPB Qualified Mortgage and Ability-to-Repay guidelines.
