Transmission Planning Engineer (Electrical)- Cooperative Energy, Hattiesburg, MS

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Transmission Planning Engineer to support the planning, reliability, and operation of the bulk electric transmission system. In this role, you will develop and maintain power system models, perform transmission planning studies, ensure compliance with regional and national reliability standards, and collaborate with neighboring utilities and regional transmission organizations.

What You'll Do:

• Build, maintain, and update transmission system models used for planning, operations, and reliability analysis.
• Perform power system studies, including load flow, contingency, transfer capability, and interconnection analyses.
• Maintain transmission facility ratings and develop engineering data for lines, transformers, and other system equipment.
• Support MISO, NERC, and SERC modeling, planning, and compliance requirements.
• Partner with neighboring utilities and regional organizations to exchange modeling data and coordinate system planning activities.
• Develop and enhance automated tools and processes to improve engineering efficiency and data analysis.
• Prepare technical reports and planning documentation while supporting industry committees and engineering initiatives.

Qualifications:

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree Electrical Engineering (ABET Accredited)

Certification and Licensures:

• Successfully pass a security sensitive background screening - Required
