This position plays a key role in supporting the Materials and Operations Department by managing production scheduling, service parts/Aftermarket administration, and customer service, applying supply chain principles and process improvement. The Production Planner and Customer Service must be able to perform root cause analysis, articulate findings, and create and implement solutions that ensure compliance with the production plan and customer commitments.
Demand Management and Customer Service
Receive customer demand via EDI, email, or PDF/TXT files and load demand into the system.
Analyze significant demand changes (±15%) and coordinate actions with the customer and planning.
Attend customer conference calls, calls, and emails.
Provide shipment-related documents and information.
Manage service parts or Aftermarket (AFT): demand receipt and scheduling, inventory control, and coordination of fulfillment to ensure supply to spare parts customers.
Escalate relevant risks with sufficient information for decision-making.
Document and dispute penalties with proper support (increases, cancellations, delays, etc.).
Production Planning and Control
Ensure production scheduling based on coverage of raw material, subassemblies, and finished product.
Confirm material availability with Planning in response to demand increases.
Monitor daily adherence to the production schedule.
Coordinate corrective actions in response to deviations in plan compliance.
Manage manufacturing orders (creation, closing, and cancellation).
Coordinate with internal areas: Finance, Program Manager, Shipping, and Planning.
Prepare and follow up on the production schedule for injection molding and thermoforming machines, considering capacity, cycle times, and mold changes to meet the shipping plan.
Operational Production Supervision
Verify that production lines operate according to established standards and cycles.
Ensure production targets (volume) are met.
Monitor key downtime indicators.
Logistics and Shipping
Manage open orders and delivery times.
Comply with shipping windows defined by customers.
Communicate internally about schedules, transportation, and shipment status.
Notify the customer in the event of logistics delays.
Inventory and Resources
Keep finished product inventories under control.
Control parts usage, forecasting, and inventories based on production needs.
Manage availability of machines, materials, and personnel.
Participate in physical inventories and stock reconciliations.
Comply with safety, quality, and audit policies (IATF, LPA).
Document corrective actions in response to shipping or production failures.
Participate in improvement activities such as Kaizen, 5S, visual management, etc.
Collaborate in training sessions, recurring meetings, and town halls.
Education/Experience/Skills
Industrial Engineer, Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, or related field.
5 years in a similar position.
Strong negotiation skills.
Inventory management and control.
Knowledge of JIT.
Purchasing and customer service practices.
Experience managing service parts or Aftermarket (long life cycles, low volumes, high SKU variety).
Knowledge of plastic injection molding and thermoforming processes (cycles, tonnage, mold changes).
Experience in production scheduling based on machine capacity (scheduling/sequencing).
Capacity balancing.
