LOCATION

This direct contract role is based in La Paz, Bolivia under a hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working from our La Paz office 4 days per week. 

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a IT AI Engineer, Senior to design, build, integrate, and support the enterprise applications and intelligent automation solutions that power our internal business operations. 

This role will own the design and development of full stack solutions, system integrations, and workflow automations supporting areas such as Finance, HR, Sales, Customer Support, IT, and other internal business functions. The Senior IT AI Engineer will work with enterprise platforms such as Salesforce, ERP, ITSM, and other business systems. 

This role will also leverage modern AI capabilities—including LLM APIs, AI agents, document intelligence, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and intelligent automation—to improve business processes and user productivity. This is an applied AI engineering role focused on integrating existing AI technologies rather than developing or training machine-learning models. 

The IT AI Engineer, Senior will have the opportunity to modernize the company’s internal technology ecosystem by building enterprise applications, integrating business platforms, and leveraging AI to transform how employees work across the organization. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Translate business requirements into secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions. 
• Identify opportunities to automate business processes and improve operational efficiency using software and AI. 
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support internal business applications. 
• Build frontend components, backend services, APIs, and database solutions. 
• Develop and maintain integrations between CRM, ERP, ITSM, data platforms, and other enterprise systems. 
• Customize and extend Salesforce using Apex, LWC, SOQL, Flow, and platform capabilities. 
• Build AI-enabled workflows using LLM APIs, retrieval, document processing, and agent-based automation. 
• Own technical delivery from solution design through production support. 
• Apply development standards for security, privacy, performance, testing, and code quality. 
• Participate in sprint planning, estimation, code reviews, and technical design. 
• Mentor junior developers and collaborate with technical and business stakeholders. 

• 5+ years of professional software development experience. 
• Strong experience designing, building and supporting enterprise or internal business applications.
• Full stack development experience using a modern frontend frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, etc.) and at least one backend language (C#, Java, Node.js, Python).  
• Hands-on experience integrating Generative AI or Large Language Model (LLM) services into enterprise applications or business workflows. 
• Hands-on experience with APIs, webhooks, middleware, and system integrations
• Experience with relational databases, SQL, and data modeling. 
• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, GCP, or comparable cloud services. 
• Experience with GitHub, code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD. 
• Experience working with authentication and authorization technologies (OAuth, SAML, SSO, JWT, etc.) 
• Strong problem-solving and business requirements analysis skills. 
• Professional written and spoken English. 

• Experience integrating Salesforce with ERP, ITSM, Finance, or Customer Support systems. 
• Salesforce development experience using Apex, Flow, or similar platform technologies.  
• Experience with integration and automation platforms such as MuleSoft, n8n, Zapier, or similar. 
• Experience implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases, AI agents, prompt engineering, semantic search, or document intelligence solutions. 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. 
• Preferred Certifications (a plus) 
  • Salesforce Platform Developer or architecture certification. 
  • Cloud or applied AI certification. 

• You must be set up as an independent contractor (self-employed).
• You will not be eligible for benefits.
• The contract will be paid monthly in US dollars through a 3^rd party payroll vendor.
• Upon hire, you must be able to provide documentation that proves authorization to work in Bolivia and a Police Clearance Certificate.
