Join the FP&A team supporting The Hartford’s Global Specialty business, a dynamic and growing portfolio spanning specialty insurance products and markets around the world. In this role, you will help forecast financial performance, analyze business trends, and provide insights that influence strategic decisions across the organization.

 

Working at the intersection of finance, analytics, and technology, you'll collaborate with leaders across Finance, Accounting, Actuarial, Operations, and the business to understand performance drivers, evaluate opportunities, and support planning for the future. You'll gain hands-on experience with forecasting, financial modeling, automation, data analytics, and AI-enabled finance tools while building expertise in a complex and highly analytical industry.

This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in the office (Hartford, CT) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

 

Key Responsibilities

Drive Financial Insights That Influence Decisions

• Build and maintain forecasts for key P&C insurance financial metrics including premium, commissions, and other operating expenses
• Analyze actual results against forecast, budget, and prior year performance, identifying key drivers, emerging trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Partner with business leaders to translate financial results into clear insights and recommendations that support strategic decision-making.

Leverage Data, Analytics, and Technology

• Develop financial models and analytical tools that improve forecasting accuracy and business understanding.
• Use modern technologies such as Python, AI-enabled tools, Power BI, Power Query, and automation solutions to improve decision-making and reduce manual work
• Continuously challenge existing processes and identify opportunities to automate manual work and enhance efficiency.

Gain Exposure to Business Strategy and Leadership

• Support executive reporting, presentations, and performance reviews for senior leadership.
• Collaborate closely with Accounting, Actuarial, Operations, and business teams to understand what drives performance across the organization.
• Participate in strategic projects that shape how Finance supports business growth and decision-making.

Build a Foundation in Insurance Finance

• Develop expertise in the financial mechanics of a global specialty insurance business, including forecasting and financial performance measurement.
• Learn how accounting, operations, actuarial assumptions, and business strategy connect to financial outcomes.

 

Qualifications

We're Looking For Someone Who:

• Has a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related field.
• Is a CPA, CPA candidate, or brings experience from public accounting, financial reporting, audit, advisory, transaction services, or FP&A.
• Has 2+ years of relevant experience in Accounting, Audit, Financial Reporting, FP&A, or a related finance discipline.
• Enjoys digging into data and solving complex business problems.
• Is intellectually curious and eager to learn new technologies, industries, and analytical approaches.
• Has strong communication skills and can tell a story with data.
• Thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with exposure to senior leaders.

 

Technical Skills

• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
• Experience with or strong interest in data analytics, automation, and AI-enabled tools.
• Exposure to Python, SQL, Power BI, Power Query, Alteryx, Tableau, or similar technologies a plus.
• Familiarity with enterprise planning and reporting tools such as TM1, Anaplan, Hyperion, or similar platforms a plus.

 

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$83,200 - $124,800
