Director of Manufacturing Operations

Job Summary

This role is within MFP's Nogales Manufacturing - Operations group. A successful incumbent is expected to (i) Direct, coordinate and facilitate the daily activities of direct reports to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost requirements, and (ii) Partner with EHS to ensure that environmental compliance activities and requirements are met.

Requires 10+ years in manufacturing operations, with 5+ years supervisory experience and a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering area or relevant subject area

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee operations across multiple facilities to ensure consistent safety, quality, productivity, and compliance with company standards; oversee the warehouse and material delivery and handling functions 

• Direct, coordinate, and facilitate the activities of direct reports to  meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost requirements 

• Partner with EHS to ensure that environmental compliance activities and requirements are met 

• Ensure standards for product quality, equipment, and operator performance are maintained and that cost-effective technology is used to maximize production 

• Develop departmental budget, monitor plant spending, and report on operating costs within functional areas 

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as: Inventory control, Sourcing, Purchasing, Distribution Centers, and Engineering, in issues related to planning, scheduling, labor standards, production processes, and material/inventory control 

• Direct and implement decisions regarding manufacturing strategy, plant layout, staffing requirements, and external network relations 

• Lead the plant leadership team in developing the plant’s strategic direction, establishing priorities and allocating resources 

• Lead and oversee the management for daily improvement (MDI) process. 

• Develop and implement strategic initiatives to optimize operations, enhance business performance, and support long-term organizational growth. 

• Oversee the Make-to-Order (MTO) manufacturing related function across network 

• Comply with health and safety guidelines and rules; managers should also ensure compliance across their teams. 

• Protect Chamberlain Group’s and Multi-Fab’s reputation by keeping information confidential. 

• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reading professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies. 

• Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results and participating on projects as needed.

• Drive the performance management and compensation processes by communicating job expectations, monitoring and evaluating performance, providing feedback and facilitating employee development per the company’s policies 

• Maintain transparent communication by appropriately communicating organization information to team through department meetings, one-on-one meetings, appropriate email, IM and regular interpersonal communications 

• Lead and motivate individuals and teams to create a workplace culture that is consistent with the CG mission, vision and values. 

Minimum Requirements

Education/Certifications: 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering area or relevant subject area 

Experience: 

• 10+ years in manufacturing operations, with 5+ years of supervisory experience 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

• Advanced knowledge of Lean Six Sigma 

• Basic knowledge of ERP 

• Advanced knowledge of Quality management systems 

• Ability to read and interpret financial statements 

• Strong leadership skills 

• Problem solving and negotiation skills 

Preferred Qualifications  

Education/Certifications: 

• MBA 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

• Knowledge of SAP, Syteline 

The pay range for this position is $158,000.00 - $254,600.00; base pay offered may vary depending on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience. In addition to base pay, also offered is a comprehensive benefits package and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). This position is eligible for participation in a short-term incentive plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies.
