Description
Our client, a fast-growing international law firm with a rapidly expanding Hong Kong platform and tier-one ambitions across its core practice areas, is adding senior firepower to its investment funds practice. The practice already enjoys outstanding leadership — its head is one of the region's best-known funds lawyers, with a global client following — and the brief is to bulk up the bench beneath that leadership: a senior partner who brings their own origination engine and wants to operate at the heart of a growing platform, not build from scratch; or an up-and-coming junior-mid level funds partner with a potent network and increasingly loyal client following who wants to join a credible and collaborative competitor to the usual players on the market.
The successful candidate will work across the full spectrum of funds work — private equity, venture capital and hedge fund formation, LPFs and OFCs, offshore and Cayman structures, and related SFC regulatory matters — for sponsors, asset managers and institutional investors across the region. Alongside a high-profile practice head who is already generating more demand than the team can absorb, you will bring your own client relationships, run significant mandates from day one, and help convert the practice's momentum into a durable market position.
The firm is deliberately open on seniority: an up-and-coming partner with a growing following is as interesting as an established heavyweight with a substantial book. What matters is a portable book of business, an established track record advising fund sponsors and asset managers gained at a leading US, Magic Circle, offshore or major global law firm, admission to practise in Hong Kong (or common law or US law qualified), and an entrepreneurial, collegiate mindset with a demonstrated ability to originate and grow client relationships in the region.
