Responsibilities

  • The Director of People & Culture is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the People & Culture division, including benefits administration, employee relations, housing, talent acquisition, retention, employee communications, career development, wage and hour compliance, training, workers’ compensation, and employment-related legal matters.
  • Monitor the quality and effectiveness of staff performance, including oversight of disciplinary actions, recommendations for suspension or termination, and the establishment and administration of regular performance appraisal programs.
  • Assess the development and effectiveness of employees at all levels and evaluate the hotel’s workforce needs through succession planning, career planning, and coaching and counseling in partnership with leadership.
  • Oversee the financial aspects of the People & Culture budget, including benefits, labor and salary reporting, and the planning of cost-effective employee events and initiatives within established budget guidelines.
  • Establish and implement recruitment, selection, placement, and pre-employment procedures in accordance with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts’ policies, staffing guidelines, compensation practices, and all applicable laws.
  • Analyze the hotel’s training and development needs at all levels and create or coordinate programs that ensure employees are proficient in delivering Four Seasons core standards and culture, while supporting career growth and internal promotion opportunities.
  • Lead and support employee Wellness programs and Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging initiatives that foster an inclusive, engaged, and healthy workplace culture.
  • Serve as both a strategic leader and hands-on partner to hotel leadership, balancing long-term People & Culture objectives with day-to-day operational needs.
  • Maintain a high degree of integrity, discretion, and professionalism while overseeing employee-related matters and supporting a positive experience within all Heart of the House areas.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a Director of People & Culture or Assistant Director of People & Culture role is required, preferably within a luxury hotel environment.
  • A Bachelor’s degree or four-year degree is strongly preferred.
  • A background in Human Resources, Education, Hospitality, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong experience in Human Resources leadership and strategy, employee relations and engagement, talent acquisition, learning and development, labor relations, and total rewards.
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems required; Workday and ADP experience preferred.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to understand and manage strategic financial planning, budgeting, labor costs, and compensation practices.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, conflict-resolution, and strategic-thinking skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, discretion, and integrity when handling sensitive employee and business matters.
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
  • Passion for service and a commitment to delivering an exceptional employee experience within a luxury hospitality environment.
  • Successful candidate must possess legal work authorization in the United States.
