To strengthen our team, we are seeking a highly experienced AAPC-certified Medical Coder who can independently ensure coding accuracy, compliance, and provide guidance to our RCM and clinical teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Review clinical documentation and assign accurate codes using ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and E/M coding standards.
- Specialize in behavioral health/psychiatry coding with strong attention to detail.
- Identify and correct under-coding, over-coding, missing codes, modifiers, and documentation deficiencies.
- Ensure compliance with NCCI edits, payer-specific guidelines, Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance requirements.
- Collaborate with RCM and clinical teams to resolve coding issues and improve documentation practices.
- Provide coding guidance and support to team members when discrepancies are identified.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of U.S. healthcare coding regulations and compliance standards.
- Active AAPC certification (CPC strongly preferred).
- Minimum 3–5 years of U.S. healthcare medical coding experience.
- Strong background in behavioral health/psychiatry coding.
- In-depth knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and E/M coding.
- Experience with payer requirements, Medicare/Medicaid, and commercial insurance billing.
- Familiarity with compliance standards, NCCI edits, and documentation improvement.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Ability to work full-time and coordinate effectively with remote teams.
