Glitch Productions is an independent animation studio based in Australia making original, long form animated shows distributed on Youtube. Our channel has over 14 million subscribers, tens of millions of views per episode and is still growing strong. Our studio is filled with incredibly talented and passionate artists that are determined to change the way animation is produced and treated in the industry. Our latest IP; Digital Circus, has amassed over 350 million views on the pilot alone and we have a lot more still to come.
Role Information
The Head of Consumer Product will lead and scale Glitch Productions’ global consumer product strategy. This role will own the roadmap, systems, operations, and data across all original and licensed merchandise including toys, apparel, collectibles, plush, accessories, and more.
With consumer products and merchandise playing a crucial role in our overall brand strategies, the role will see you work closely with executives, logistics, and your own consumer products team to optimise workflows, consolidate data, and institute processes that will allow for the timely completion of product designs, minimising errors, proliferation of creativity, and ensuring satisfaction to our customers.
Your duties will include
- Build, scale, and lead the Consumer Products division including product development, design, and sampling. You will be responsible for ensuring proper headcount to meet our strategic goals, and the optimisation of team structure and skills.
- Owning the product development and design lifecycle as you oversee all stages of product development and ensure products are delivered according to key milestones and schedules.
- Streamline workflows and processes to reduce downtime, errors, and double handling, and improve the efficiency of the team.
- Direct the creation of new technology systems alongside our Business Systems division to allow the seamless recording and transfer of information both within the Consumer Products division as well as neighbouring divisions such as Brand, Marketing, and Logistics and Supply Chain.
- Working closely with the Sales team to align on sell dates, points of interest, and future products in order to promote purchase orders and greater distribution.
- Consolidate the Consumer Products division’s data alongside the Logistics and Supply Chain division’s data to discover points of optimisation and action them accordingly.
- Providing training and mentorship to team leads and managers to prepare them for future challenges and provide career development.
- Consulting with Legal departments and counsel to ensure product design and development is compliant with local regulations and labelling requirements.
- Collaborating with Brand and Marketing departments to plan and execute unique, exciting product launches, including sales, pre-orders and exclusives.
- Tracking sales performance and discussing analytic results and improvements with stakeholders.
A successful candidate will have
- Excellent Self-Management and directorial skills
- In-depth understanding of product lifecycle, SKU architecture, and consumer segmentation across categories like toys, plush, and apparel.
- Extensive experience building and/or maintaining Inventory Management Systems, Customer Relationship Management systems, and project management software such as Asana.
- Experience utilising Airtable as a reliable database of information.
- Experience with Shopify’s backend and product systems, as well as its analytics dashboard.
- Strong financial management and understanding with experience managing margins, pricing, and ROI on merchandise lines.
- Extensive experience in a head of product role or similar.
- Ability to build, inspire and guide creative and management teams to deliver merchandise with visual and emotional impact.
- Awareness of current and emerging trends in the toy industry and youth culture.
- Understanding of manufacturing timelines, cost negotiation, and QC processes.
- Clear communicator who can synthesize complex product plans to executives, creatives, external partners, and other key stakeholders.
- Agile thinker who thrives in a fast-paced, startup-like environment with evolving priorities.
