Overview
Tooling Manufacturing Engineer
We are looking for a Tooling Manufacturing Engineer for our client, who is a leading aerospace engineering organisation supporting both OEM and aftermarket operations. The business specialises in the manufacture, maintenance, repair and overhaul of highly engineered aerospace components and systems, serving customers worldwide.
Tooling Manufacturing Engineer Requirements
- Tooling manufacturing engineer must have experience with 3D modelling, preferably Siemens NX.
- Proven ability to manage projects and deliver independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Tooling Manufacting Engineer must have experience using 3D printers.
- Industrialisation experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of technical documentation such as Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs) and Process Plans.
- Experience within Assembly & Test, tooling, manufacturing, or machine shop environments.
Tooling Manufacturing Engineer Responsibilities
- Assess current tool control processes across Assembly & Test and Machine Shop environments.
- Conduct gap analysis and implement actions to achieve the required standard.
- Design and model tooling inserts using 3D CAD software (preferably NX) and support 3D printing activities.
- Procure, catalogue, serialise, and manage tooling assets within the Tool Management System.
- Audit operations for tool control compliance and report progress against project plans.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities across the aftermarket value stream
Tool Control across the Aftermarket Value Stream, both Assembly & Test and Machine Shop environments.
Qualifications/Experience:
Essential - · 3D modelling experience (Preferably NX) · Ability to project manage and work independently at pace · Intermediate experience in Office tools eg, Word, Excel and PowerPoint · Ability to communicate effectively both internally and externally, at all levels.
Desirable - · Experience using 3D printers · Experience of Industrialisation in an Engineering environment · An understanding of technical documentation i.e. CMM’s (Component maintenance manuals), Process Plans …

· Assessment of current state
· Gap analysis vs required state
· 3D design / modelling & 3D printing of tooling inserts
· Procurement of missing tools
· Loading / cataloguing items into a carousel
· Laser etching to serialise
· Updating the central Tool Management System
· Auditing operations for compliance
· Reporting out vs burn down plan
· Identification of opportunities for continuous improvements
This role falls inside IR35.
