MeritRequired Minimum Qualifications:
• Six years of experience in temperature and computerized building environmental automation systems, refrigeration or air conditioning work, including apprenticeship, or has two years of experience in computerized building environmental automation systems and meets the minimum eligibility requirements of ESM I; or four years experience in above plus Journeyman’s license; and• Has refrigeration certificate of at least type 2.
• May need to possess a valid driver’s license and meet University’s Fleet Safety Program.
• Prefer 2 years of college/trade school.
Job Description:
Keep critical dining facilities running safely, efficiently, and reliably through skilled maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of essential HVAC, refrigeration, and food service equipment. This position provides comprehensive equipment maintenance and repair support within large-scale dining centers and high-volume food service environments, responding to daily work orders, preventive maintenance needs, and emergency service requests.
The position maintains and repairs commercial refrigeration systems, ice machines, air handling and multi-zone air handling systems, and facility heating and cooling equipment. Responsibilities also include balancing exhaust and supply air systems, monitoring HVAC and refrigeration systems through Metasys, supporting preventive maintenance programs, and communicating repair timelines to management. The position contributes to facility improvements and safety initiatives, documents work through computerized maintenance management systems such as TMA, orders necessary materials and parts, and participates in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours maintenance support. The position also assists with cross-training maintenance staff and performs other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience maintaining commercial HVAC, refrigeration, and food service equipment.
- Experience troubleshooting ice machines, air handling systems, and heating/cooling equipment.
- Experience using CMMS and building automation systems such as TMA and Metasys.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance, safety standards, and applicable codes.
- Ability to troubleshoot, prioritize repairs, communicate effectively, and work independently.
