Summary:

Powder coat painters apply paint in auto and manual booths as directed.  The primary responsibility of the painter is to paint product in a safe and efficient manner, with desired film thickness and zero quality defects.

Responsibilities:

Operate powder coat guns in either manual or autobooth.  Changes program setting based on part configuration to obtain total coverage at desired film thickness. Clean auto booth to achieve 40 minute color change, manual booth to achieve 5-8 minute color change. Adjusts gun for maximum paint efficiency, fluid, air and technique. Ensures that equipment and paint booth are kept clean and in good working condition. Ensure water stains and oil bleed out are removed from substrate before painting. Inspects all powder and spray painting equipment on a daily basis. Makes adjustments as necessary. Cleans powder and spray painting equipment and maintains it for proper working order. Performs system maintenance. To include washer, ovens, booths and conveyor. Load and unload burn off oven as needed. Notifies group leader if problems arise. Follows health and safety requirements and company policy. Wears appropriate PPE.  Performs other functions as needed. 

Knowledge & Skills:

  • High school education or equivalent preferred
  • 1-2 years’ experience painting in a similar paint environment preferred
  • Ability to read paint schedule (in English)
  • Understands paint process and color changes
  • Ability to use hand, air, and electric powered tools and drive material moving equipment
  • Keeps a clean and neat work area
  • Good communication skills

Essential Functions:

  • Must be able to continuously walk/stand 4 – 12 hours daily
  • Must be able to perform frequent lifting up to 55 lbs independently
  • Ability to work with arms raised frequently for long durations
  • Must be able to frequently push/pull product on carts, racks, pallets and shelves
  • Must be able to work in a plant with seasonal fluctuations of indoor climate (heat)
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime as needed including weekdays and weekends
  • Ability to work within a paint environment, (powder, scents)
  • Ability to frequently be twisting, turning, bending, lifting

The Hourly rate for this position is $20.00 - $20.00
  • This is the lowest to highest hourly rate we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. The hourly rate offered within the range may vary depending on multiple factors including job level, geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience and in compliance with local wage requirements.​
