ABOUT THE ROLE

Ferguson Electric’s Estimators are responsible for producing comprehensive estimates for commercial, industrial, and institutional projects. Estimators collaborate closely with project managers and other electrical construction professionals to develop accurate and timely estimates and support the development of complete project proposals.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Acquire bid documents
• Attend pre bid meetings and review specifications and drawings to determine the scope of work.
• Perform accurate takeoffs
• Set up estimates to allow for advanced manipulation of data, enabling the generation of estimate breakdowns for bid analysis, scheduling input, and bid form requirements. Acquire bid documents
• Submit Requests for Information (RFI)
• Process Addenda
• Coordinate with administrative staff for Insurances, Bid Bonds, and Bid Form completion
• Engage with subcontractors and suppliers
• Use estimating software proficiently
• Vet proposals and Bills of Materials for completeness
• Project a professional image to clients and colleagues
• Ensure bid accuracy
• Identify and anticipate potential risks
• Determine lead time for non-stock and special-order items known at bid time
• Other duties may be assigned based on needs of various divisions across the company.

• Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
• Continuous improvement mindset when it comes to evaluating systems and processes.
• Desire to work in a fast-paced environment in a rapidly changing industry.
• Solid math, critical thinking, and business writing skills.
• Ability to interpret computerized cost data.
• Ability to organize, read and interpret blueprints and/or engineering design drawings.
• Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
• Self-starter with the ability to work effectively.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite/Microsoft 365, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
