Job Description
The Savitt Medical Library at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine seeks a collaborative and forward-thinking Librarian II to provide intentional leadership in library technology, digital scholarship, and electronic resource management. This position plays a key role in advancing the library's mission to support the educational, research, and clinical work of the School of Medicine, while strengthening partnerships across the University, Knowledge Center, Renown Health, and VA affiliates. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced librarian with expertise in library systems, research data services, and digital scholarship to shape the future of medical library services at Nevada's flagship university.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership for the administration, optimization, and continuous improvement of library technology systems, including Ex Libris platforms, discovery services, authentication systems, analytics dashboards, and resource assessment tools.
Develop and advance research data services supporting the organization, discovery, sharing, preservation, and stewardship of scholarly and research outputs.
Promote researcher engagement with institutional repositories, including ScholarWolf, to increase visibility, accessibility, compliance, and preservation of UNR School of Medicine scholarship.
Collaborate with vendors and institutional partners to evaluate, negotiate, acquire, and manage electronic resources supporting the School of Medicine's mission.
Lead assessment and enhancement of electronic resource collections through usage, performance, and user-needs analysis.
Manage electronic resource access, authentication workflows, and linking technologies to ensure seamless, reliable access to information resources.
Oversee strategic development of the Savitt Medical Library website, LibGuides, and digital platforms.
Partner with public and technical services staff to ensure accuracy and discoverability of metadata, holdings, and resource access points.
Analyze usage metrics and service data to inform collection management, strategic planning, and digital transformation initiatives.
Provide leadership for LibGuides, Ask-a-Librarian services, and service request tracking systems.
Strengthen engagement with library partners, including Renown Health and VA affiliates, ensuring equitable access to resources and services.
Advance digital scholarship and scholarly communication initiatives through innovative technologies and expanded research dissemination support.
Represent the Library through active participation in University, School of Medicine, Knowledge Center, and professional committees.
Develop reporting and assessment measures demonstrating the value and impact of library systems and services.
