Department: Samaritans of Merrimack Valley  

Reports to: Samaritans Director   

Direct Reports: None  

Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week)  

Type: Hybrid Role (In-Person & Remote) 

FLSA: Non-Exempt 


A. Overview


The Family Services of the Merrimack Valley is seeking a full-time (40 hours per week) Training Coordinator for its Samaritans program. This position is primarily responsible for implementing Family Services’ suicide prevention training program throughout Massachusetts, focusing on Essex County and portions of Middlesex County, which includes facilitation of several suicide prevention curricula, outreach and recruitment of training participants and host sites, training follow up, and data collection. 


B. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct two-hour and four-hour suicide prevention training curricula on working age adults, older adults, and LGBTQIA+ populations to cohorts of community members and professionals. 
  • Ensure project goals are met per the contract requirements with the Department of Public Health regarding number of trainings and number of participants, knowledge acquisition, and training satisfaction. 
  • Conduct marketing and outreach activities, including individual contacts, social media, and development of promotional materials to reach project service goals. 
  • Coordinate CEU process from application through completion certificates. 
  • Develop and analyze training participant evaluation data and report data to appropriate stakeholders. 
  • Participate in collaborative regional and state coalitions and meetings. 
  • Assist with other Samaritans projects and events as needed, including: loss survivor support, community outreach events, and youth focused suicide prevention interventions. 
  • Participate in webinars and workshops to enhance knowledge of suicide prevention and update curricula annually. 
  • Other duties as assigned or requested. 

Requirements

C. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or at least 2 years of work experience in suicide prevention or a related human service field). 
  • Knowledge of suicide prevention, risk factors, warning signs, postvention, mental health, etc. 
  • Energetic and engaging trainer mentality with previous experience conducting trainings and interfacing with the community.  
  • Effective communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to perform multiple tasks. 
  • Cultural competency skills to effectively work with diverse populations.  
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Publisher and Power Point as well as social media.  
  • Ability to work independently and in a group; ability to take initiative, when appropriate.   
  • Must have access to reliable, consistent transportation and ability to work occasional nights and/or weekends, when required. 
  • Ability to interface with community stakeholders and collaborate effectively with other suicide prevention organizations.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • This is a 40 hour per week, Non-Exempt, benefited position with a pay range of $20-$22 per hour, commensurate upon experience.
