What You'll Do
Provides advanced specialized wound, skin, and ostomy care to patients with select disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary and integumentary systems. Provides consultation to staff on patients with complex wounds. Functions independently and in collaboration with nursing colleagues, physicians and/or with members of other health disciplines.
Provides Ostomy patients with care, education, and supply information during hospital stay.
Actively performs teaching and supervision of others to improve care delivery.
Educates patients, families, significant others, and other medical personnel when needed
Functions as preceptor to nursing students
Actively participates in Pressure Injury Prevention Program in the hospital.
Demonstrates through knowledge of staging system of wounds.
Coordinates care across the continuum of care setting. Organize multidisciplinary wound and skin rounds on a weekly basis with nurse manager for high-risk patients and patients with current pressure injury and other significant wounds
Inputs charges and enters documentation on all wound care patients into computer system in a timely manner to ensure compliance.
Maintains and submits necessary statistical reports and records pertaining to specialty. Compile monthly and annual reports for hospital acquired pressure injury.
Serves as a resource to all hospital staff on all issues related to wound/skin care as needed.
Demonstrates skills of accurate assessment, reassessment and development of plan of care.
Requirements
AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers within 30 days.
Clinic Competency Assessment annually by transcript due date.
Current Missouri Registered Nurse license or current Registered Nurse license from a compact state. If a compact license is held, it must be in the nurse’s state of residence.
