Job Title: Health, Safety & Environmental Manager
Department: Environmental Health & Safety Department
Reports To: Plant General Manager
FLSA status: Exempt
SUMMARY
Primary functions are to: To provide site safety leadership, ensure compliance with Company safety standards, implement safety directives, improve safety performance, and ensure Company safety policies and procedures are aligned with federal, state and local regulations
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Ability to develop and maintain specific objectives and strategies necessary to comply with all federal, state and local safety regulations.
- Perform on-site safety assessments.
- Development and administration of safety reward programs.
- Responsible for properly administering training to employees on work site safety practices across all levels of the Company.
- Must be comfortable with preparing presentations and speaking in front of large groups.
- Responsible for preparing and submitting all company and regulatory reports in a timely manner.
- Develop annual company health and safety goals and objectives.
- Investigate, analyze, and report all accidents resulting in time lost injuries/illnesses or major property, liability or equipment damage.
- Provide assistance in representing the Company in all safety related hearings (OSHA, and etc.).
- Recommend and enforce appropriate disciplinary action when safety policy violations have occurred.
- Ability to recognize hazardous situations and incident investigation reports to implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Develop and implement Occupational Health and Safety policies and programs in accordance with local and federal regulations.
- Responsible for implementation and maintaining ISO 45001 and 14001.
- Participate in new product/process reviews including process hazard analyses, Operator Training, etc.
- Maintain corporate safety library (e.g. videos, regulations, reference manuals).
- Promote safety and health awareness through internal company memoranda, newsletters, and specific monthly training programs.
- Understand Federal and State occupational safety and health regulations and monitor regulatory changes as they occur.
- Periodically audit practices and records of manufacturing plants to ensure compliance with company. programs and Federal/State occupational safety and health regulations.
- Coordinate, monitor and review Industrial Hygiene sampling as required.
- Perform other related duties as required, directed, or as the situation dictates
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Health, Safety & Environmental Manager will report to the Plant General Manager. This position direct reports, Health and Safety Coordinator(s). This position will work closely with other company personnel (e.g. Engineering, Human Resources, Legal, Operations and Quality).
IATF 16949/ ISO14001 / ISO 45001 RESPONSIBILITIES
The IATF16949and ISO14001 responsibilities listed below are required for this position. Adhere to all IATF16949 (Quality) / ISO14001 (Environmental) / ISO 45001 (Health & Safety) procedures as related to the operations department function.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors of Science degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field preferred; and equivalent years of direct field safety experience.
- 8 years or greater of minimum experience in Safety and Health in a Manufacturing setting required. Currently working knowledge of Federal and State Health and Safety Regulations required.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Software.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
