Engineering Manager - Brand Experience

The Wow 

As an Engineering Manager at Betsson Group, your primary responsibilities will be geared towards building and leading high-performing engineering teams, meaning a lot of your focus will be on our most important asset – our people! You will work closely with your product, architecture and design counterparts on the planning and scoping of the product and technical development roadmap, where you will be accountable for the engineering teams’ delivery. You will also be expected to take ownership and responsibility for the technical stability and performance of the applications under the tutelage of your teams.

• Excellent Communicator: Communicates clearly, honestly and directly with the team, fellow Engineering Managers and the Head of Engineering, adapting the message to the audience. 

• Team Building and Collaboration: Builds highly functional, collaborative teams where people support each other, share knowledge and take shared ownership of outcomes 

• Team Planning and Resourcing: Identifies gaps in skills, roles and capacity, and closes them proactively through hiring, upskilling and planning ahead of demand 

• People Management: Manages the team day to day with fairness and consistency, running effective one to ones, performance reviews and hiring, and handling people matters such as conflict, absence and HR processes with care and discretion 

• People Development: Invests in the growth of every team member through regular feedback, clear goals and support for career progression, addressing performance concerns early and fairly 

• Technical Understanding: Brings a solid engineering background to technical discussions, partnering with Tech Leads and Architects while empowering the team to own solutions 

• Delivery and Execution: Ensures the team delivers reliably by managing priorities, dependencies and risks, while balancing delivery pressure with a sustainable pace 

• Stakeholder Management: Builds strong relationships with Product, Design, QA, Architecture and other teams, representing the team confidently and advocating for its needs 

• Continuous Improvement: Uses data and team feedback to refine processes and engineering practices, fostering a culture where learning leads to real change 

• Culture and Wellbeing: Leads with empathy and fairness, building an inclusive team and keeping an eye on wellbeing and workload before issues escalate 

 

Great to have: 

• Industry Experience: Experience in iGaming, Fintech or similar high traffic, regulated industries, with an understanding of compliance and responsible gaming considerations 

• Distributed Teams: Experience leading teams across multiple locations or time zones, keeping collaboration and alignment strong 

• Agile Practices: Hands on experience with Scrum, Kanban or similar frameworks, adapting them to what works best for the team 

• Incident Management: Experience supporting production environments, leading teams through incidents and driving learning from post incident reviews 

• Budget Awareness: Experience managing or contributing to team budgets, including tooling, training and events

• Delivery and Quality: Be accountable for delivering on time and to a high standard, using clear performance metrics to track progress and drive continuous improvement of team and development processes 

• System Health and Support: Promote ownership of system health, performance and stability, ensuring effective support processes are in place and SLAs are actively monitored and met 

• Leadership and Collaboration: Be an active member of the area's leadership team, working closely with Product and Architecture to align the team with strategy, standards and business goals, and sharing best practices with engineering leaders across the organisation
