About the Role
 

Join our team at Enablon as an Integrated Operational Risk & Operations Subject Matter Expert (SME) and bring deep operational and risk management expertise to the development of next-generation enterprise software solutions.

In this role, you will work as an embedded member of a cross-functional product team, partnering closely with Product Management, Engineering, and customers to ensure solutions reflect real-world operational practices, risk management principles, and decision-making requirements. Your industry expertise will help shape product capabilities, validate customer needs, and translate complex operational challenges into scalable software solutions.
 

Responsibilities

• Partner with Product Managers and Engineering teams throughout discovery, design, development, validation, and release activities.
• Participate in customer workshops, interviews, and design-partner engagements to understand operational workflows and decision-making processes.
• Define and validate operational risk models, decision frameworks, evidence requirements, and business rules.
• Provide subject matter expertise across operational risk, process safety, control management, and operational execution disciplines.
• Evaluate and challenge proposed product capabilities to ensure operational validity and industry relevance.
• Support the creation of requirements, specifications, process models, and domain documentation.
• Contribute to the development of industry best practices, methodologies, and knowledge assets.
• Help identify emerging market needs, regulatory trends, and industry challenges that may influence product direction.
• Validate customer use cases and business outcomes through ongoing collaboration with product and customer teams.
• Act as a trusted advisor to Product and Engineering teams on operational risk and operational excellence topics.
   

Skills & Experience

Industry Expertise

• Deep experience in high-hazard or operationally complex industries such as Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Utilities, Mining, Energy, Manufacturing, or similar sectors.
• Strong operational credibility gained through direct involvement in operational risk management and field operations environments.
• Experience leading or supporting enterprise risk improvement initiatives, risk campaigns, or operational excellence programs.

Domain Knowledge

• Strong understanding of Operational Risk Management (ORM).
• Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM).
• Deep knowledge of Control of Work, Permit to Work, and operational execution processes.
• Familiarity with SIMOPS, Barrier Management, critical controls, and risk registers.
• Understanding of how operational decisions are influenced by risk, controls, barriers, and performance objectives.
• Exposure to maintenance, reliability, asset integrity, or work management processes is preferred.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to translate operational practices into structured business requirements and product capabilities.
• Skilled at communicating with frontline users, operational leaders, and senior stakeholders.
• Able to challenge assumptions constructively and influence decision-making through evidence-based reasoning.

• Strong collaboration skills and ability to operate as a peer partner within cross-functional teams.
   

Working Model

• Full-time role embedded within a product development team.
• Active participation in ongoing product discovery, design, validation, and development activities.
• Daily collaboration with Product Management and Engineering rather than operating as a periodic reviewer or consultant.
• Regular participation in customer engagements, design reviews, and validation activities.
• Shared accountability for ensuring solutions align with operational realities, customer needs, and business outcomes.
• Constructive challenge and evidence-based decision-making are encouraged as part of normal team operations.
   

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years of operational, risk, process safety, or operations management experience.
• Experience implementing or using enterprise software supporting operational risk, process safety, control management, or operational excellence.
• Demonstrated ability to bridge operational expertise with technology and product development teams.
