We work tirelessly every day to ensure children have access to a fun, rigorous, whole-child education regardless of zip code or economic status. When you join SA, you play a part in giving every student who walks through our doors a fair shot at reaching his or her potential.
About the Role
As the Senior Director, Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) (internally known as Leader, People Partner), reporting directly to the Head of People, you will serve as the chief architect of talent strategy, organizational design, and enterprise change across the Success Academy Network Office and school operations. In this role, you will lead and elevate a dedicated team of People Partners and associates, ensuring seamless coordination between talent strategy, operational execution, and executive leadership. By advising C-Suite leaders and ruthlessly streamlining processes, you will build a scalable human capital infrastructure that keeps our culture fiercely aligned with our mission of educational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and scale the People Partner team to elevate HR delivery standards, refine performance calibration, streamline employee relations processes, and foster a high-output culture of excellence.
- Architect enterprise-wide organizational strategies and transformations to anticipate growth bottlenecks, restructure Network Office operations, and break down functional silos across the institution.
- Partner directly with C-Suite officers and Executive Leadership to drive executive succession planning, talent calibration, leadership effectiveness, and high-stakes strategic business decisions.
- Leverage predictive talent analytics and audit network workflows to enforce "strategic subtraction," systematically eliminating redundant processes and legacy friction to maintain hyper-lean teams.
- Institutionalize high moral accountability and ethics by embedding a transparent feedback culture that eliminates conflict avoidance and ensures "scholar first" decision-making across all enterprise levels.
- Drive network operational velocity by establishing an urgent execution cadence for the People Partner function, delivering flawless communication, and leading proactive change management.
Qualifications
- 12 to 15+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, with at least 6+ years leading strategic HRBP/People Partner teams in high-growth, matrixed, or rapidly transforming environments.
- 5+ years of direct people management experience with a proven track record of scaling HR functions and driving team performance at scale.
- Executive-level influence with demonstrated success serving as a direct strategic advisor to C-Suite and Senior Vice President leadership on enterprise org design, talent planning, and change management.
- Exceptional business acumen and quantitative proficiency to translate complex talent data into actionable executive strategies and measure organizational ROI.
- Deep alignment with Success Academy’s mission, characterized by high integrity, transformational resilience, and a drive to operate at extreme velocity.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience in senior HR leadership).
Competencies
- Enterprise-Level Ownership: Systematically identifies network-wide friction points and designs complex, scalable human capital solutions across disparate business units.
- C-Suite & Executive Influence: Commands immediate credibility with senior executives to debate, align, and drive consensus on strategic priorities without relying on formal authority.
- Complex Systemic Navigation: Navigates enterprise political and operational dynamics with ease, simplifying complexity to enable seamless cross-collaborative execution.
- Transformational Resilience: Maintains unwavering composure during high-stakes turnarounds or crises while guiding senior leaders productively through ambiguity and tough feedback.
- Strategic Domain Expertise: Translates complex organizational challenges and high-level business goals into crisp, actionable HR strategies for executive and board-level leaders.
