Job Title: Financial Accountant
Location: Bellville, Cape Town
Position Type: Permanent (In Office position)
Salary: Negotiable around market related salary including pension, medical aid and performance bonus.
Introduction:
Our client, a reputable and large company based in Bellville, is seeking a skilled and motivated Financial Accountant to join their dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with a strong accounting background to contribute to the financial success and growth of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including balance sheets, income statements, and other financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Conduct detailed reconciliations of accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Support the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insightful financial analysis.
- Prepare tax filings and assist with audits and internal controls.
- Monitor cash flow and ensure that financial transactions are properly recorded and classified.
- Work closely with other departments to provide financial advice and insights.
- Assist in the preparation of year-end financial statements and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Ensure the company’s financial systems are up to date and accurately reflect financial data.
- Participate in ad hoc financial analysis and project work as required.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Minimum qualification of a B.Com Accounting / Honours or CA(SA).
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in financial accounting or similar role.
- Sound understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software (e.g., SAP, Pastel, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive attitude with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- The successful candidate must be a very strong successor type personality and able to manage a team of creditors clerks.
- High EQ and stress tolerance is also extremely important for this role due to their industry needs and seasons.
Desirable Skills:
- Knowledge of South African taxation and related legislation.
- Previous experience in a corporate or multinational environment.
