Job Summary
In accordance with the Mission, Core Values and Vision; the Associate Professor functions within the mission and strategic plan of Mount Carmel College of Nursing.The primary function of this position is the instruction of Mount Carmel College of Nursing students and all related activities. Teaching excellence is defined as instruction that fosters a positive teacher-student relationship; intellectually challenges the student; and demonstrates skillful techniques in the classroom, including the use of educational technology. Maintains academic records regarding the progress of students. Advises students in academic matters.
Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Education: Masters Level in Nursing, will also accept NP in Mental Health
Nursing Faculty: Mental Health background
Completion of an approved registered nursing education program as defined in the Ohio Administrative Code.
License / Certification: Must hold a current active, applicable, and unrestricted license in the state of Ohio (e.g., RN) and CPR certification (for nursing faculty). Ability to obtain and maintain compact licensure, if required for teaching, clinical oversight, student supervision, or other job-related responsibilities.
Experience:
Experience for at least two years in the practice of relevant field (e.g., nursing).
Effective Communication Skills
Documented excellence in teaching.
Evidence of scholarly achievement.
Active in professional and community organizations

(For patient care providers) Provides nursing care, ensures an environment of patient safety, promotes evidence-based practice and quality initiatives, and exhibits professionalism in nursing practice within the model of the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®.
(For nursing faculty) Functions in accordance with the Ohio Board of Nursing OAC 4723-5-19 Responsibilities of Faculty Teaching a Nursing Course and OAC 4723-5-20 Responsibilities of Faculty and Instructional Personnel in a Clinical Setting or other state regulations as amended.
Assumes responsibility and accountability for institutional diversity and cultural competence.
Supervises, evaluates, and advises students in classroom, laboratory, and clinical experiences.
Maintains student records.
Facilitates a learning and caring environment which encourages critical thinking, investigation, self-direction, and respect for the uniqueness of each individual student.
Maintains communication and oversees the activities of Clinical Instructors/Preceptors regarding course curriculum and student evaluation, if applicable.
Responsible for the development, assessment, and revision of program curriculum in collaboration with other faculty and academic leadership.
Participates in professional activities, programs and professional organizations.
Maintains records according to college policies and processes ensuring adherence to FERPA and confidentiality standards
Participates in scholarly activities, either individually or collaboratively.
Participates in peer review.
Participates in College and Faculty Assembly according to full-time/part-time employment status.
Attends required College functions.
Mentors new faculty.
