Job Description Summary

The Director of Hardware Program Integration for MR Engineering leads engineering initiatives aligned with the MR product portfolio strategy. This role oversees end-to-end integration of hardware systems and subsystems across MR platforms to deliver New Product Introduction (NPI) and Installed Base (IB) programs successfully.

The position leads the Hardware Program Integration team and is accountable for portfolio quality, cost, schedule, and risk. Responsibilities include defining integration strategies and standard work, driving operational excellence, and integrating hardware subsystems into complex medical imaging systems. The role also leads the Advanced Test Equipment (ATE) development team, ensuring manufacturing test solutions are developed, validated, and deployed in line with product milestones and are ready for launch and commercialization.

The Director partners with engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, service, quality, regulatory, and product management teams to deliver innovative, reliable, high-quality solutions that meet customer and business needs.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide functional leadership through recruitment, talent development within the Technology Career Development (TCD) framework, competency building, mentoring, performance assessment, and career progression for direct and indirect technical staff.
  • Manage resource allocation and prioritization, including headcount and budget planning.
  • Develop the team to strengthen program integration and technical excellence, including establishing, adopting, and sustaining standard work and effective daily management practices.
  • Drive innovation by creating solutions to complex, unstructured product and system design challenges.
  • Define and implement hardware integration strategies and standard work to seamlessly incorporate hardware components into medical systems.
  • Engage the team across all phases of product development, leading NPI execution and integrating new hardware into Installed Base product lines.
  • Use AI tools to improve the efficiency of hardware integration and daily engineering operations.
  • Champion engineering effectiveness through cross-functional collaboration, metric tracking, dashboard development, and process optimization.
  • Exercise independent functional and operational judgment to achieve business objectives and successful program outcomes.
  • Partner with cross-disciplinary engineering teams and cross-functional business leaders across MR to align priorities, resolve issues, and deliver integrated solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with GE HealthCare’s Quality Management System and all applicable regulatory standards throughout the product development lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related STEM field.
  • Demonstrated experience in hardware integration and program or project leadership.
  • At least 10 years of engineering experience in hardware product design and development, including three or more years in program management or functional leadership or equivalent.
  • Self-motivated, with a strong commitment to Agile, Lean, and continuous improvement.
  • Proven success leading global teams in a matrixed organization.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and a record of delivering results across global initiatives.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities while balancing resources, timelines, and quality.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to gain stakeholder support.

Desired Characteristics

  • Master’s degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical field.
  • Five or more years of hands-on electrical or mechanical hardware experience.
  • Functional management experience and proven ability to mentor, coach, and inspire high-performing teams.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills in complex technical and organizational environments.
  • Program management experience in a fast-paced, global environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver multiple projects simultaneously while balancing resources, timing, and quality.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across functions, build teamwork across organizations, and partner effectively with senior leaders.
