Deposition Technician

Key Responsibilities

• Operate vacuum deposition systems and support equipment after training and under established procedures
• Prepare, handle, load, and unload parts, substrates, fixtures, and tooling with care and consistency
• Perform basic mechanical tasks such as fastening, alignment, part setup, fixture cleaning, and simple equipment adjustments
• Follow run sheets, work instructions, travelers, and visual standards to support repeatable production output
• Inspect parts for obvious defects, contamination, handling damage, or process concerns and report issues promptly
• Follow cleanroom gowning, contamination control, PPE, safety, and quality requirements
• Use basic hand tools, measuring tools, carts, fixtures, and shop-floor equipment safely and appropriately
• Utilize FactoryTrak and/or SyteLine ERP to accurately record production transactions after training
• Maintain cleanliness of labs, chambers, carts, tools, and workstations in accordance with 5S procedures
• Escalate equipment, quality, safety, or process concerns to technicians, engineers, or management
• Demonstrate progress toward technician-level skills through training completion, safe work practices, process discipline, and mechanical problem-solving
• Other duties as assigned by Department Manager

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Prior manufacturing, assembly, machine operation, automotive supplier, maintenance, fabrication, or mechanically focused work experience preferred
• Cleanroom, vacuum system, or thin film coating experience is helpful but not required; training will be provided

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools, fixtures, hardware, and equipment
• Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions in a controlled manufacturing environment
• Good hand-eye coordination, attention to detail, and careful part handling habits
• Ability to learn specialized cleanroom, vacuum deposition, coating, and measurement processes through hands-on training
• Basic computer skills and ability to enter accurate production information into ERP or shop-floor systems
• Familiarity with basic measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, or visual inspection aids preferred
• Reliable attendance, safe work habits, and willingness to work as part of a production team
• Problem-solving mindset with the ability to recognize abnormal equipment, part, or process conditions

Preferred Background:

• Experience in Tier 1, Tier 2, or Tier 3 automotive manufacturing, assembly, machine operation, quality inspection, maintenance, or material handling
• Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, tooling, fixtures, fasteners, basic troubleshooting, or equipment setup
• Prior exposure to cleanroom, optical, coating, vacuum, CNC, lab, or precision manufacturing environments is a plus
• Familiarity with ISO based quality systems, 5S, standardized work, production travelers, or work instructions

Training and Advancement Path:

• Company-provided training will cover cleanroom practices, vacuum deposition equipment, product handling, ERP transactions, safety requirements, and quality expectations
• Operators will be evaluated on attendance, safety, quality, process discipline, mechanical aptitude, equipment ownership, and ability to learn increasingly technical tasks
• After approximately one year of successful performance and training progression, the operator may be considered for advancement toward Deposition Manufacturing Technician responsibilities

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift 35 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
• Ability to climb ladders
• Ability to stand while performing duties and monitoring chambers – up to 75% of the time
• Ability to use/wear required PPE
