Description -
This role supports GSB strategic planning and portfolio decisions through competitive intelligence, financial modeling, business case development, and business model analysis.
The successful candidate will provide the analytical foundation and business insight that enable GSB leadership to make better strategic, portfolio, and investment decisions. The role will focus on competitor strategies, financial performance, strategic initiatives, business model economics, and implications for GSB choices.
This role is part of a broader GSB Strategy team: the Senior Strategy Manager owns strategic planning, portfolio strategy, and investment prioritization; the Market Analyst owns the dedicated market-insight workstream; and this Business Analyst owns competitive intelligence, business modeling and strategic decision support.
The business analyst will partner across Business Unit teams, Finance, Software & Solutions, Category, Sales, and Corporate Strategy to support growth initiatives, assess business implications, and evaluate acquisitions, partnerships, and strategic investments.
Responsibilities
- Own GSB competitive intelligence, including competitor tracking, strategic initiative monitoring, financial-performance review, benchmarking, and synthesis of implications for GSB strategy.
- Conduct financial modeling and business case development for strategic initiatives, including P&L forecasts, profitability analysis, scenario modeling, sensitivity analysis, ROI assessment, and investment cases.
- Evaluate confidential opportunities for acquisition, partnership, or strategic investment by performing competitive assessments, valuation support, strategic-fit evaluation, synergy modeling, and financial scenario analysis.
- Evaluate, model, test, and refine new business models, including subscription-based models, software-enabled models, ecosystem partnerships, recurring-revenue opportunities, and service-based models.
- Build analytical frameworks and decision-support materials for LTP, portfolio reviews, QBRs, growth reviews, and strategic planning discussions.
- Develop and deliver executive-level presentations, briefings, and strategy materials that translate analysis into clear implications and recommendations.
- Leverage Excel, AI, and data-analysis tools to improve the speed, depth, and repeatability of strategic insight generation.
- Partner closely with the Senior Strategy Manager to ensure competitive intelligence, financial analysis, and business-model insights directly support portfolio strategy, investment prioritization, and One-GSB decision-making.
Education & Experience Recommended
- Four-year or graduate degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Strategy, Marketing, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Typically 5-10 years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, finance, business analysis, competitive intelligence, corporate development, business development, investment analysis, or related fields.
- Experience in the graphics industry, technology, software, platforms, industrial B2B, capital equipment, or recurring-revenue business environments preferred.
- Experience preparing business cases, financial models, and executive-level analytical materials for senior leadership.
- Experience supporting M&A, partnership, investment, or business-model evaluation is highly desirable.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong strategic thinking and structured problem-solving capabilities.
- Advanced business and financial modeling skills, including forecasting, scenarios, sensitivities, profitability analysis, ROI assessments, and recurring-revenue economics.
- Ability to develop robust business cases and investment recommendations.
- Strong analytical capabilities using Excel, AI, and data-analysis tools.
- Experience conducting competitive intelligence, financial-statement analysis, benchmarking, and industry-structure assessment.
- Business model innovation and commercialization experience, including subscription, consumption-based, software-enabled, ecosystem, and service-based models.
- Ability to communicate analytical findings through executive-level presentations and recommendation-oriented storytelling.
- Knowledge of M&A processes, partnership evaluation, valuation support, and synergy assessment methodologies.
- Ability to simplify complex competitive, financial, and business-model dynamics into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining analytical rigor and confidentiality.
- Ability to influence stakeholders in a matrixed organization and drive alignment without direct authority.
- Ability to operate effectively with limited direction in ambiguous and fast-moving environments.
