Your role and responsibilities:

In this role The Quality Specialist – Supplier Quality, Vendor Development & Incoming Inspection is responsible for end-to-end supplier quality management for vendors engaged in manufacturing processes including Molding (Injection/Compression), Stamping, Resistance Welding, and Plating. This role encompasses vendor qualification, process development, quality audits, Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) implementation, incoming material inspection, and corrective action management. This role demands solid knowledge in Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) operation, dimensional metrology, process-specific quality parameters, supplier audits, PPAP methodologies, APQP/FMEA tools, and ISO 9001:2015 compliance within a manufacturing environment.

The role will support for the ABB India Ltd for Electrification, Smart Building Business to be based at Nelamangala, Bangalore India. 

 

You will be mainly accountable for:

 

• Supplier Qualification & Development – Evaluate, qualify, and develop suppliers across Molding, Stamping, Resistance Welding, and Plating processes through capability assessments, process audits, quality system audits, supplier scorecards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Supplier Audits & PPAP Management – Plan and conduct initial, periodic, and surveillance audits; manage PPAP Level 0–5 for new parts and engineering/process changes, reviewing PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, SPC, FAI, and PSW documentation.
• Incoming Quality & Process Control – Manage IQC activities and material clearance through SAP Usage Decision (UD), while establishing process-specific inspection standards and monitoring critical quality parameters, Cp/Cpk, SPC, and measurement system effectiveness.
• Supplier Non-Conformance & Corrective Actions – Manage supplier rejection, RGA, NC tracking, 8D corrective actions, SNCRP, root-cause analysis, and verification of corrective action effectiveness; support resolution of supplier-related customer complaints.
• Supplier Performance, Compliance & Quality Assurance – Lead supplier performance reviews, monitor Defect PPM, OTD, Cost, Cp/Cpk, and responsiveness, maintain quality documentation and certifications, and ensure compliance with applicable IEC, UL, CE, RoHS, ISO 9001:2015, and customer-specific requirements.

 

Qualifications for the role:

• B.E./B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
• 8–12 years of relevant experience in Supplier Quality, Supplier Development, or Quality Assurance within a manufacturing environment.
• Practical experience in at least 2–3 manufacturing processes, including Injection Molding, Metal Stamping, Resistance Welding, and Plating.
• Minimum 3 years of practical experience in supplier audits, vendor assessments, process audits, and supplier qualification.
• Practical experience in PPAP, APQP, PFMEA/FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA/Gauge R&R, GD&T, and supplier approval processes.
• Mandatory proficiency in CMM operation and programming, using ZEISS CALYPSO, along with knowledge of dimensional and material testing.
• Experience in Switchgear, Electrical, Automobile, or Heavy Engineering industries, with knowledge/certification in ISO 9001:2015/IATF 16949, Six Sigma/Lean, PPAP, APQP, FMEA, and process-specific quality standards.
