About SMI Security:
SMI Security is seeking a professional, dependable, and experienced Security Officer to join our security team assigned to a large residential community in the Kendall area. This position requires an officer who is comfortable working independently overnight, conducting vehicle patrols, enforcing community parking regulations, and maintaining detailed documentation of daily activities.
The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, good judgment, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to professionally interact with residents, visitors, vendors, and community management.
Position Responsibilities:
The selected Security Officer will be responsible for maintaining a highly visible security presence throughout the community and ensuring established security and parking regulations are followed.
Primary duties include:
- Conducting routine overnight driving patrols throughout the community.
- Monitoring residential streets, parking areas, entrances, and other designated areas.
- Enforcing the community's established parking rules and regulations.
- Identifying vehicles that are illegally parked or in violation of community parking policies.
- Documenting parking violations accurately and following established procedures for vehicle removal/towing.
- Coordinating with authorized towing services when vehicles meet the community's established towing criteria.
- Responding professionally to residents and visitors regarding parking and security-related concerns.
- Maintaining a visible security presence throughout the property.
- Monitoring for suspicious activity, property damage, safety concerns, and other incidents.
- Conducting regular patrols using the assigned security vehicle.
- Completing an hourly activity report documenting patrol activity, incidents, unusual occurrences, parking violations, and other relevant information.
- Immediately reporting significant incidents or emergencies to the appropriate SMI Security supervisor and/or community management.
- Maintaining accurate and professional written documentation.
- Following all SMI Security policies, post orders, community rules, and client instructions.
- Providing professional customer service while maintaining appropriate security procedures.
- Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism when dealing with residents and community information.
Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Valid Florida Security Class D License.
- Valid Florida Driver's License.
- Clean driving record with no points.
- Ability to legally operate a security patrol vehicle.
- Ability to work overnight shifts.
- Ability to work independently with limited direct supervision.
- Strong communication and observation skills.
- Ability to complete detailed written and electronic reports.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Reliable transportation to and from the assigned location.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to professionally enforce community rules and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
- Previous residential community security experience.
- Previous experience conducting vehicle patrols.
- Experience with parking enforcement and towing procedures.
- Experience working in a large residential community, condominium, HOA, or master-planned community.
- Previous experience completing detailed security activity reports.
