Responsibilities
Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation (BSWIR) is seeking a full-time speech pathologist based at our Lakeway clinic and splitting time in our Far West clinic in North Central Austin. BSWIR Outpatient has an interdisciplinary team model working closely with physical therapy and occupational therapy.
We work as part of the continuum of care, striving to get patients back to their premorbid functioning. Adult outpatient therapy consists of diagnostics and treatment of stroke, acquired brain injury, dysphagia, voice, progressive neuromuscular diseases, Parkinson’s disease, cancer, dementia and other medical complexities.
We offer a clinical ladder for advancement, company-supported professional development and CEU’s and a student loan assistance program. We have a year-long professional development program to clinicians new to the post-acute rehabilitation part of the continuum.
We are seeking someone who can:• Work closely with a multidisciplinary team that includes physical therapists, occupational therapists, ENT’s, head/neck surgeons, pulmonologists, gastroenterologists, oncologists, neurologists and other referring physicians. • Perform standardized assessments for disorders related to speech, language, cognitive-communication, and fluency disorders to create an individualized and patient-centered plan of care. • Perform clinical swallow evaluations and interpret Modified Barium Swallow evaluations in order to safely determine a diet and individualized plan of care. • Plan and deliver effective patient and family training to address safety concerns and facilitate carryover into the home and community.• Participate in monthly speech trainings and CEU’s related to speech pathology.• Demonstrate commitment to team, flexibility, professional interpersonal communication, critical thinking and customer service skills.• Market to area physicians and grow the program.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have licensed outpatient experience treating the adult neurologic population.
