Job Summary
Responsible for managing a portfolio of scholarly journals, with oversight of financial performance, editorial operations, stakeholder relationships, and portfolio growth. Helps drive journal quality, performance, and continuous improvement initiatives. Contributes to cross-functional projects and department-wide initiatives within the Journals business unit. Collaborates with Senior and Senior Lead Publishers while also working independently with minimal supervision to resolve moderately complex issues. Effectively prioritizes and adjusts work to achieve business objectives.

About the Role:
Building on your foundational knowledge, you will manage and grow a portfolio of scholarly publications, overseeing key aspects of journal performance, including editorial operations, stakeholder relationships, and publishing strategy. You will contribute to the quality, performance, and growth of both society and proprietary titles, working closely with editors, society partners, and cross-functional teams to ensure successful publication outcomes.
Responsibilities:
Manage the editorial development of journals within assigned portfolio through liaison and regular communication with authors, editors, medical societies and internal and external teams.
Ensure timely on-schedule publication of journal titles
Works with the Associate Director, Medical Journals, to develop and execute the strategy of the Wolters Kluwer Health publishing program.
Identifies strategic priorities based on industry/competitive analysis and market trends. Identifies areas for differentiation and improvement.
Gathers and analyzes performance data and KPIs to prepare publishing reports for professional associations and editorial boards. Provides reports on product updates, web metrics, and other key indicators as required.
Manages journal/portfolio P&Ls to meet or exceed ROI/profitability targets. Participates in regular budgeting and forecasting process and proactively adjusts product plans to improve/achieve financial performance.
Drives new contract and renewal negotiations with editor, society, and sponsorship opportunities, including preparing and analyzing financial data.
Maintains and enhances the value proposition to authors, editors and societies to increase submissions and impact.
Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to develop journal processes, features, and services.
Promotes and raises awareness and visibility of assigned journal portfolio to the wider market via email, in person meetings, and at appropriate conferences.
Collaborates with marketing to drive website usage.
Effectively manages internal/external editorial resources and relationships to ensure operational efficiency.
Ensure timely and accurate digital content uploads and updates.
Synthesize customer feedback to inform content updates and improvements.
Provides project management support, tracking milestones, and ensuring deadlines are met.

Skills:
Excellent writing, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
Proficient in content preparation and publishing processes
Advanced capability in supporting publishing activities
Competence in analyzing feedback to enhance content
Proven organizational and planning skills with attention to detail
MS Office proficiency with Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and Teams
Familiarity with web development protocols and technologies
Qualifications
Education: BA/BS degree or equivalent experience required
Experience 3+ years of print and digital publishing experience; STM publishing preferred including:
Experience with defining product requirements for high traffic journal websites
Strong financial analysis, budgeting, and financial modeling skills
Experience in management and execution of major projects with strong problem-solving abilities
Travel: approximately 15%, to include domestic travel to conferences, strategic planning meetings, etc. Some international travel may be required.

Compensation:
$53,700.00 - $91,950.00 USDThis role is eligible for Bonus.
Compensation range listed is based on primary location of the position. Actual base salary offer is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skills, experience and actual hiring location.
